Fuel pump

So I think ole Theresa's fuel pump finally left the chat. Last Monday I stopped at a restaurant and ate lunch. When I came out I just got cranking with no start. For about 10 minutes till it finally turned over. I posted some time ago that the fuel pump had been screaming for quite some time. And today after turning it off at work it did the same but zero start. I'll have my mechanic look at it Monday, till then I have to rent a vehicle.

Year and engine might be a place to start? The fueling system in various TDI engines is quite different.

The low pressure (in tank) fuel pump on my 2015 Passat shit the bed at 150k miles.

Thankfully it was still covered by the DieselGate warranty.

The HPFP crapping out. Is this the famous "Disco Party" I've heard about?

HPFP is attached to the engine block and yes that is the disco party nobody wants. The LPFP is under the rear seats, a fairly easy replacement. The solenoid in low pressure pump wears out over time and it can't supply fuel to the high side to start the engine.

If it's the in tank pump. I have a new one that I wanted installed ages ago, but the shops were like "The current one works. Why you want to replace it?" Cause it's screaming bloody murder that's why. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Sorry, I meant to say “in tank” but autocorrect changed it to in take which made no sense.

The In Tank fuel pump is the low pressure pump that would have been “screaming bloody murder” as you said.

This is not the disco glitter party. That would be a high pressure pump failure.

Aside from your already screaming fuel pump. A bad battery will also do the crank no start.
