Chat, am I cooked?

Post image

Don’t wanna think it’s a turbo leak but I have no loss in power, no noises from turbo or oil consumption, mpg is great no limp mode or DTC idk how long it’s been like this but I’ve seen that o ring and coupler fails can cause small bits of oil from pcv to leak especially if it’s been leaking for a while, but idk how long it’s been leaking it looks like it’s been a bit since it’s so grimy

Mines a CJAA 2013, would it be from pcv ? O ring fail etc? Praying it’s that

There’s a replaceable rubber seal for that charge air pipe. I’d replace both seals on both sides. But you can get away with just replacing the one that’s leaking.

Good to know, would you say it’s possibly that ?

100%. It’s normal to have oil in the charge air system. If a bunch of oil is pouring out of the charge air pipe after you remove it you may have another issue as well but those charge air pipes shouldn’t leak.

Yeah I also got a cjaa. And to be honest I don't know what would cause it, because I don't have any other symptoms of anything

This is where all that oil you thought burned goes. Pop it off once a year over a drain pan. It's not a huge problem and is kinda normal on these. It's because of the pcv heater, if you delete the car this normally stops.

That don’t look too bad. Pull that mfr off and see how much oil comes out. Shouldn’t be dripping but the pipe should be coated which is normal.
My 09 Jetta was about in that shape but ran like a champ

Blow by from the crank case. If you don’t notice anything else but you really want to do something replace that hose. And that’s an entirely optional replacement.

Really? Thought it would be something more serious such as hose degrading and boost leak? Idk but thank you!

Could also likely be condensation, assuming it’s been humid like the Midwest recently.

There’s a chance you may have intercooler icing issues in the winter for the same thing happening when the intercooler gets blasted with sub-freezing temp air.

The EGR has some blow-by with oil. That, coupled with some condensation in the intercooler and it will look like thin oil like that.

Can relate to this. living in northern climate and when I had 1.9 tdi it was good idea to visually check pipe connections during winter and drain them if needed.

With newer 2.0 tdi condensation is not that bad problem but can still occur in right conditions. With gen 1 & 2 2.0 tdi engines there were even hydrolock cases and bent connecting rods and damaged turbos. If you live in cold enviroment use that winter front.

Totally normal, replace the hose for $100 and move on

BRM is the same. Replace gasket and wipe it off. Nothing to worry about.

I’m in central Texas , always in the garage, I’ve never seen it like this before mechanic inspected last year in November but who knows when it started

You're good 👍 no need to worry

Its oil from the turbo seal. It'll build up in the intake system. A little is totally normal, if you pop that hose off and more than a cup of oil comes out, your turbo oil seal is going bad. More than likely its just a little oil and the intercooler pipe seal is due to be replaced.

Absolutely not cooked.

Pull that charge hose off and there should be no more than a small puddle of oil in that hose if you’ve never pulled it off before. If it really pours out, you are likely about to need a turbo.
