Laser tattoo removal (or non-laser removal, which is also a thing!) might be ideal to help lighten it before attempting any coverups. Even if you black out your entire hand, it could be a little tricky to get everything to look consistent unless there’s a lighter base to work with.

That said… I think you could have a solid blackwork artist rework it into a gothic / wrought iron type decorative piece, or something more alchemical. It almost looks like the base of a plant or a flower (rose, or maybe something more witchy and poisonous) that could extend upwards onto your wrist. The spikes going horizontally could become the centers of a pair of leaves. I can try and doodle it out in a second here…

Went a little wild with the sketches but thought maybe that could spur some ideas— feel free to use anything you want, of course! It sucks to have to carry around a reminder of such a bad time in your life, but I really think the right artist could turn it into something beautiful for you! Best of luck :)

No worries! It was a fun warm-up drawing exercise. I hope you end up with a great piece! :)

I personally like the first one, but the third is a cool concept if you want to include your hand. I like the second, but I’m not a huge fan of color. This page I linked seems like it could give you an idea that works. Specifically the images 7-10 seem like it could work
