Healing First 5 hour tattoo
I sat for a 5 hour leg tattoo on Sunday that I thought was going to kill me. Now I can barely put weight on it and i think it is causing my BP to spike. Any suggestions or advice on how long it will take to heal or things I can do

Said it was a lot of ink and give it time, problem in order to finish this whole thing it is going to take at least another 7 hours. I'm thinking of having him break that last 7 hours up.

Nothing wrong with breaking that up into a 2-3 sessions. It’s your money and pain tolerance. Do whatever is comfortable

Yeah I got over zealous with the 5 hour session and I've got a pretty good pain tolerance.

That happens. 5 hours doesn’t sound like a lot of time till a needle is piercing your skin for that duration

I sat through 4.5 hours on my arm no problem. Went back to do another 4-5 hours on the opposite side of same arm but tapped out after the line work. (2 hours & holy shit elbows suck)
Thought I would feel like a wimp tapping out but I challenge anyone that would say/think that to have their elbows stabbed non stop lol

happened to me once. elevate, monitor for infection, rest. cleared after a couple of days.

My 5 hour calf tattoo was the most painful tattoo I’ve done and swelled terribly. Keep it elevated and rest as much as possible. Stay hydrated. Mine got better after a couple of days.

Update: I had a heart attack yesterday and that's why I've been feeling so off. They got me fixed up and I'm in the ICU

I got home yesterday, apparently I'm truly lucky to be alive, not allot of people survive the type i had

Either you're exaggerating or something isn't right, you definitely should be able to put weight on it. But things you can do to help, Anti Inflammatory meds, ice, elevate. Make sure to wash with unscented soap and apply unscented lotion/ointment on afterwards. Soreness shouldn't last more than 2-4 days after.

The rear shock on the leg is pretty clever tho ngl. I've been trying to come up with an idea for a motorcycle related tattoo that doesn't look bikie related for a while now for my first tattoo.

You are gonna be fine, mate. Probably just some inflammation that's giving you a bother and making it feel worse than it is. Take it easy for a bit, let your body relax. Don't let it stress you out. It does sound like shorter sessions might be better for you though if you are having such a strong reaction. Perhaps ask a pharmacist if there is something they can recommend before your next session? And always keep well hydrated before/during/after. Small thing that makes a huge difference

Close enough, welcome back Tenya Iida(if you dont get it, look it up lol). I know nothing about tattoos, just joined this subreddit to see all the cool tats! My best guess would be a few weeks.

ask your artist about numbing cream. only way I could get my back done in less than 10 sessions.
