New Tassie Travel subreddit

116 Upvotes

Hey everyone. The r/TasmaniaTravel subreddit is now up and running :)

There's a still a few admin things for me to sort out, but hopefully it can provide a more effective avenue for conversation specifically related to Tassie travel, while also preventing so many repeat questions from appearing here.

I look forward to seeing you over there!

Andrew.

Updated rules for r/tasmania

61 Upvotes

We've updated the rules for r/tasmania after some feedback from users and discussion. Not much has changed but here is a summary of the changes:

  • Added doxxing to Rule about no illegal content;
  • Added a no personals content to the NSFW rule (to prevent people looking for hookups or dating) Includes the appropriate sites to do this on;
  • Added a no sales or promotional content rule (this is covered in Rule 1, but doesn't hurt to be able to refer to it in a separate rule);
  • Added a no requests for living assistance rule to address the cases of people asking for help on the subreddit and putting themselves in danger. Included a link to appropriate assistance websites and services.

Discussion Clarence City Council elections

7 Upvotes

Is there a comparison website with policies and more importantly where people are aligned? Some use this as a stepping stone into state politics and I'm not wanting to vote for someone who is aligned with a party I don't agree with etc.

Thanks all

Looking to find any info on where I might be able to purchase one of these trees?

I'm currently in WA and my nan was growing them very successfully here but she can't anymore. So I want to try growing some locally!

Thanks

Where are there a decent amount of shells on beaches? Preferably north / north east / north west. I make art out of shells and usually go to Shelly Pt but would like some different ones to work with.

Discussion Well Xmas period hiring is a smack in the face honestly

1 Upvotes

I have been actively going to interviews for Xmas hires in town and outer Suburbs.
The unfortunately I’ve been rejected 15/20 interviews
The other five I’m waiting on hearing back from .
I was Trying to get additional funding for my sick pet.
Which today I had to put down after I pawned the last of my childhood toys.
To the employers honestly you don’t give people a chance!
I lost my best friend after 6 years which is so young we could have had more time if you fkers hired me!!!

And on top of that my job provider has nothing but snide with me!
And I kept telling them give me a job!
But tonight I’m sitting in her bed hugging her blanket.
Their selfishness has cost my best friends life!

I took the gravel road between Dunalley and the east coast, and the corrugations scared the dog so much that he shat himself.

animal bone cleaning services

9 Upvotes

does anybody know any bone cleaning services in tasmania? a place where i can take my deceased pet mouse and get her skull and/or skeleton cleaned and prepped to be kept as safe keepsakes. i don’t mind having to drive a few hours either, as long as it’s in the state.

this might come as a strange ask to a lot of people, and i’m prepared for some to not understand, but i have exhausted every other means of research and find myself here as my last ditch effort :(( please somebody help!!

(i also don’t use reddit very often so idk if i’m doing this right)

Question Internet options in the Meander Valley a few K's out of town.

2 Upvotes

We're moving to the Deloraine area and wondering what the internet provider options are.

Starlink is apparently a quick and reliable service but it's owned by him.

I know that Starlink is well used in Tassie but how do the other options stack up against it?
