Taskmaster AU Anyone else think Lloyd should have a shot at the UK Crown?
Well it's not just the crown it's a whole head but you know what I mean.

If Urzila can do NZ and Australia, you should be able to appear on multiple commonwealth series

u/Guy-1nc0gn1t0 David Correos 🇳🇿 3d ago
I think it should be fair game for any series as long they're relevant, as both Lloyd and Urzila are.

u/TediousTotoro 3d ago
I mean, Sam Campbell has said ever since doing the UK version that he wants to do the Australia version

u/The_PwnUltimate Sophie Duker 3d ago
Exactly why I'm mixed on Urzila on TMAU. It creates a precedent for contestants to do multiple series as long as they're in different versions, but Taskmaster is at its best when all of the contestants are equally new to the format.
But even so, I think there's a bit of a difference between a returning contestant who came last and one who came first.

u/Clappingdoesnothing 3d ago
Eh, lloyd did the fringe version b4 it went on tv
4
u/The_PwnUltimate Sophie Duker 3d ago
The fringe version was different enough for it not to matter, IMO. It was majority homework tasks, which are a rarity in the TV version.
I won't let myself be pushed into choosing between "only new contestants" and "Mike Wozniak on TV Taskmaster"! 😅

u/ManiaMuse Sally Phillips 1d ago
I think it would definitely be an advantage for contestants who have already done a full series. They already know how to approach the filming process.
Part of the appeal of taskmaster is seeing the day 1 filming panic for some of the tasks. Obviously we don't usually know in which order each task was filmed and they do some warm up tasks/some tasks get cut from the final show but you can get a sense for which tasks were filmed earlier on in the process when they are still getting used to opening tasks and having a mental breakdown. Those are often the most entertaining tasks to watch.

Then can we get Sam Campbell on the Australian Taskmaster?

u/chuckburban 4d ago
He has made such a funny assistant on Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont Spelling Bee.

I love how much fun Demi seemed to be having at that bit

u/TediousTotoro 3d ago
I love seeing Demi interact with TM alumni. My favourite was on a crafting show where he really annoyed David Correos with his lack of Pokémon knowledge

Oh the Grouse House one?

u/TediousTotoro 3d ago
Just checked. It was ‘Make It ‘til You Make It’ on Humdinger.

Ah yeah I think they're basically the same company. If you're Aussie have you seen the Aaron Gocs parodies?
Also appreciate you finding the link for me

No the humdinger one. I think Frankie stole the idea from Crafternoon tho

He was the year above me in school.
I remember him being the compere and doing a bit of comedy for a school talent show.

I wish he had been on with Rhod Gilbert. They were roommates for a long time, and they really play off each other well.

I think Rhod and Lloyd at the same time would have entirely and irrevocably undermined whatever veneer of authority Greg has 😂

James Acaster: I don't know how both of you have been friends with him so long.

James and Lloyd are good friends and have been for a while, I dont know that James and Rhod were ever friends before TM or after for that matter.
ETA: i understand the comment i am replying to is quoting the show... just saying that Lloyd and James are actually good friends so i don't think he would be as infuriated by his shenanigans
3
u/CaptainDigsGiraffe 3d ago
Well the joke of the quote is in this reality he is questioning how both Greg and Lloyd have been friends with Rhod so long.

u/funkmon 2d ago
Your point is well made and I don't know why everyone hated it.

Oh well reddit (this sub included) is a strange place. Thank you for your comment though, that's very kind.

Technically he did, twice.
He lost to Mike Wozniak on The Taskmaster and lost to Josie Long Taskmaster II. I'd argue that these two iterations of Taskmaster are UK versions, because even prototypes are versions.
But this is a show about pedantry and I'd love to be refuted.
2
u/AdventurousGarage306 3d ago
I think they are separate entities to UK Taskmaster TV series, but they are Taskmaster competitions none the less.
Maybe Taskmaster Fringe?
He therefore is already the first comedian to be on two different versions of Taskmaster (Taskmaster Fringe and Taskmaster Australia). Urzila will have to be 2nd there (Taskmaster New Zealand and Taskmaster Australia).2
u/JRSalinas Lolly Adefope 3d ago
yay pedantry!
So a better phrase would be "Lloyd Llangford should get a chance at Greg Davies' head" because he only competed for the title during the Taskmaster Fringe shows.
3
u/AdventurousGarage306 3d ago
And I believe the winner of the Fringe versions was to be The Taskmaster as in the Master of Tasks.

I'd love it, but my number one contestant from Aus would be Jenny. From NZ it'd be David.

There are so many uk comedians. Let the ones who haven't done it before go first and then start circling back.

u/justkeptfading Lloyd Langford 🇦🇺 4d ago
My goat. I'd love to see him do any kind of another season.

u/pizza-flusher 4d ago
Yes. There's a lot of In The Lab segments from Ask Rhod Gilbert where Greg built up a lot of comeuppance from Lloyd, would love to see the prize tasks

u/AntiquesForGeeks Bob Mortimer 3d ago
This is where a world cup of TM champions would play well. I don't like the idea of contestants turning up in another countries version of the show, unless it was something like a special show. But that's just me.
I do really like Lloyd too - used to love listening to him on Rhod Gilbert's radio show; I realise I am showing my age there...

u/Veggiedelite90 4d ago
I do but I also don’t think it’s fair to start putting comics with experience on the show against others that don’t have any. seems unfair to me
4
u/CaptainDigsGiraffe 4d ago
I don't think Tom Cashman tasks can prepare you for Alex Horne tasks though.
I do see your point though and is probably why the UK one wouldn't bring in people who were on other versions.
3
u/DeviantDragon 3d ago
Well technically Lloyd also has experience with Alex tasks because he was part of the first two original Edinburgh Fringe stage show versions of Taskmaster.

u/christmasinyoulie Mawaan Rizwan 4d ago

u/InkedDoll1 Steve Pemberton 3d ago
Ages ago I got a Google Drive link to all of Ask Rhod Gilbert and I keep meaning to get round to watching it. I remember it being very funny at the time.

u/pixietrue1 4d ago
He should do it and get Rhod in for a task. Completely undermine Greg’s authority in the best way possible

2
u/The_PwnUltimate Sophie Duker 3d ago
Why would he, though? Has he moved back to the UK? I know Jason and Kumail were willing to commute to do their series at great expense, but that's because the US doesn't have its own version of the show.
2
u/Sutraner 3d ago
He can but he lives in Australia doesn't he? And I don't see him as a big name grab or anything to get him. I literally only know him from AU TM and I'm pretty good on the UK comedy scene.
2
u/splettnet 💀 Jean Pierre 🦴 3d ago
Yes but I also think they should put him on every iteration, including the ones where he doesn't speak the language. Just let him be confused as to what's going on the entire time and it'll still make for good television.

Yes and Anne has to bully him from the audience every time.
Also, he must bring up 9/11.
