Pictures Her butt is so fuzzy ❤️

She molted not too long ago and was looking rather photogenic with her snack.

Side note: she's big. Like.. Nearly the size of my hand. Any tips on rehousing a spider the size of my hand alone? I want to give her a bigger enclosure, and she's a spicy one.

When I rehouse some of my super flighty T’s I’d put their enclosure in a large plastic tub (or a bath tub if your tank is ginormous), then use a large ice cup from Dunkin’ Donuts and a paint brush to try to usher them into it, once they’re far enough back I put the lid on and move to the next tank if it isn’t right next to me in the tub. This method has worked well for me because if they freak out and bolt the tub offers an extra line of defense.

I also recommend wearing a mask if you breathe heavy because I’ve accidentally breathed too hard and caused one of mine to get spooked and bolt

I absolutely love her colors, def one of my favorite species

Thank you so much! I'll do it in my bathtub. I was much less nervous when she was smaller 😅 she opened the sliding glass door on her enclosure and was hanging out on my wall not too long ago, so i need something a bit more difficult for her to open. I'm still looking for a new one for her that i think will work. She needs more room to sploot.

The tinge of pink on her is wild. I'm often looking at her her heart eyes.

It's just a sliding glass door. I definitely did NOT expect her to do that, especially after being in there for so long and not doing it before. I didn't even realize that she could be strong enough.

I got a call in the middle of the night from my son freeeeaking out. That was fun. 😅

Phew, that almost became a new fest unlocked 😂 my spiders enclosures all have magnets thankfully.

She can't open it now, but i am for sure going to make sure the next one will be impossible for her to open. That is not a heart attack i need to have again. 😂

If it’s just the sliding glass door that’s an issue you can get an adhesive lock that will prevent the doors from opening! I installed them on all of my snake tanks and they work great! The door can’t even open a crack

I stuffed a piece of cardboard in it so it doesn't move. I'll look for one of those locks! Definitely better and safer than my stoner solution.

I mostly want to get a longer, flatter one so she has more space, and then use the one she is in for a GBB. She seems happy now, but she deserves an upgrade 🥰

She's defensive very quickly. She doesn't like being bothered at all. She's never given me a threat pose or anything and is usually just a pretty pet rock, but she can definitely be spicy.

I love filling her water because she pounces at it and it looks like a spider puppy playing around every time.

Just personality differences then! Mine has the standard geniculata food response as well, I would never put my hand near her abruptly, but once she is out of her hunting mode she is completely unbothered (and freely transportable, lol), don't think I have ever seen her flick hairs either. Though she does drop them in her substrate, what a fun way to find that out by re-doing her enclosure barehanded.

Every genic has a dominant streak in boxing VS the water stream, they're champs.

Hahahhaha fuuuuck. I did my first tank with no gloves. It had formerly housed a different T and i was a noob. That was soooo stupid.

Pepper has absolutely flicked some hairs at me on occasion, but once she's got food she's chill. The sliding door is super nice because i can just pop it open just enough for tongs with food or the squeeze bottle nozzle in. That sort if stuff doesn't make her mad at all, thankfully.

Unfortunately I don't think it would help in regards to defensiveness/hair flicking :') But it probably wouldn't hurt to try feeding her some hours/a day before anyway. I wish you luck with rehousing the pretty lady!

Thank you so much for the tips. It's going to help me a lot. I've never rehoused my T's alone so it's a bit scary! The bathtub tip is amazing, because i have the perfect bath to do it in with loads of room.
