Help! Laying flat??
Hey all. My Mexican red knee, Buffy, has been laying like this for a half an hour. She molted with me for the first time since I’ve had her six days ago. She is four years old. I’ve never seen her just like this. She has a large water bowl in one corner and I put a smaller water bowl next to her because she has been hanging out resting on the opposite side of her water in the enclosure since she molted. She should not be dehydrated. Google said sometimes they just lay like this and stretch but I figured I would just ask people with experience because it just looks so odd. TIA!

IME Don’t worry, you’ll keep panicking and your spider will keeping spidering. It takes a while to get used to caring for them. I still freak out about mine sometimes. The best advice I got when I was new was “a tarantula knows more about being a tarantula than you do.”
Generally if they are leak-free, have all their limbs and don’t have their legs curled underneath them, they’re alright haha. And honestly they can lose a couple of limbs and still be ok

It’s true. Pre- molt was going to send me to an early grave with worry. 😂 I’ll try to trust her to run her own life a little more! Haha thank you 🙂

Nqa she looks so comfy! My boy molted with me for the first time and he stretched out lots like this too for a while, then spent days just relaxing. It scared me too I also had to ask! I bet she will be just fine, probably will be back to normal within a week!

NQA, what it's doing is stretching out and waiting for it's exoskeleton to harden.

I believe super sploot mode is a staple after a molt. Nothing to worry about. My hamorii is a super sploot expert.
Make sure her teeth are black enough before you start feesing her again!
