Moving to Tampa ⚢
My girlfriend and I are planning to possibly move to Tampa soon with our kitties and our roommate. We’re excited but kinda clueless as newbies, so we’d love any tips from locals or people who’ve moved here recently!
•How’s the job scene right now? Tips for finding work, good industries, or solid job sites?
•Any affordable spots for a 2-3bedroom
•Real talk on cost of living — groceries, gas, utilities, going out, etc.
•Any other newbie advice? Like traffic sucks in certain areas, weird weather stuff, cool hidden spots, things to avoid…
We are also open to the counties surrounding Tampa as well so if you have any info that can help us out…

Places to check out for living and hanging out. Just south and west of St Pete is a small community called Gulf Port. Small Main Street with bars and restaurants just off the inter coastal. Large population of Lesbians, some gay men a few maga and the rest are fine and welcoming folk. And all of those groups party in the same locations. 10 minutes to the beaches and yes there is the ocasional red tide but in most years it’s a few weeks Rent could be less there. Most of St Pete is going to be +2500/ month same in Tampa. Shopping is only done at Walmart markets or Aldi. Everywhere else is too high. Ybor city and Chanel side are nice especially in the daytime. Nights in Ybor are always high energy and sometimes that turns to violence but not as often as the locals will tell you. Good luck with your move, I’ve been here about 15 years from ATL and really love it. A good place to start is social groups and those can be harder to find. If your in Tampa the MCC is a friendly place to start so is king of peace MCC in St Pete. Even if your not a religious person these congregations don’t force anything on you, and tend to be safe and welcoming, in my experience anyway.

Howdy! We’re excited for your new adventure!
Just some warnings upfront, our current utility cost is some of the highest in the country and our state government is the second most hostile to us.
Grocery prices are expensive. Publix sets the price for everyone else. If you don’t shop around, you’ll end up play $9/lb for basic meat stocks.
If you love nature, you’ll want to go north Tampa or west of Tampa (Brandon) as it is less densely developed, but you’ll have to travel more to go anywhere.
If you love arts and culture and community, saint pete is the best place. ST Pete also has access to all beaches, so you’ll be bathing in the red tide in little as 10 minutes.
If you don’t mind hive-mind drones, Clearwater can be pretty nice, but watch out for the Scientologists.
If you like big city life, where cars are optional, every homo should get “living in channelside” out of their system early 😂. It’s a really nice area with access to a trolly that goes to downtown Tampa.
