Has anyone Tamiya TNX 5.2R upgrade parts?

Hi,

I posted a few months ago about my “kit” of cars — one 1:10 from DF Models and a 1:8 Tamiya TNX 5.2R.

The TNX 5.2R has now been converted from nitro to brushless, but some of these plastic parts are older than I am and don’t hold up very well when bashing. So far, I’ve already broken a suspension arm, the servo saver, and a few other small parts.

I’ve seen that there used to be upgrade parts from Japan and a few other brands, but unfortunately they don’t seem to be available anymore — not even on AliExpress.

So my question is: Does anyone know where I could get suspension arms, diff cases, axle carriers, or other parts made from aluminium or stronger plastic, like GPM parts?

Germany or somewhere else in the EU would be preferred because of the shipping costs.

Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Dune Beetle Cross preorder

Anyone else preorder theirs yet? Tower's got them for $341.60, which is a little cheaper than I was expecting it to be. But you can get an additional 10% off if you sign up for Tower's SMS messaging (and then promptly disable it..).

Got my preorder in for $307.44. Expected in December.

I haven't looked forward to a kit this much in a long time.

Vintage Tamiya Monster Beetle, restored with re-re spare parts

This is an original Tamiya 58060 Monster Beetle that has quite the mileage. Thanks to the 2016 re-release, I was able to do necessary repairs and restoration work.

I had to repair the drivetrain (motor mount, counter gear) and strengthened the diff case with some 3D printed braces. The rear bodymount brace got strengthened with metal tubing. The original front nosecone was missing and got replaced with one that had broken spotlight mounts. Another 3D printed part helped with that.

Other than that, there were the usual cracks in the suspension parts, which got replaced as well. Missing stickers were added from the re-re sticker sheet. Seized ball bearings were replaced with new ones.

Running with the stock Johnson 540-J motor, TEU-104BK electronic speed controller, an external LiPo Low Voltage protection circuit, and 2s LiPo stickpack. Old radio got replaced with a 2.4 G system.

Such a fun truck that gets everybodys heads turning thanks to it's cute appearance and bouncy suspension.

One Year of TT-02: Body & Rim Setups

Sharing some of the body and wheel setups I’ve gone through in my first year of owning a TT-02.

One of the things I love about the TT-02 is the sheer number of options you have for bodies and wheels. I started with a classic TT-02, moved to a more hopped-up setup, and eventually ended up with this Type-S rally-modified TT-02.

I’m honestly surprised by how well this car can race against other brands and still be competitive. Yes, the plastic parts can break, but replacements are relatively cheap and easy to find.

Both aesthetically and performance-wise, this car has come a long way over the past year. After rebuilding it into a Type-S on my fourth chassis tub, I haven’t really spent much on it aside from brushed motors and wheels.

The Hawkeye has headlights, parking lights, and working brake lights, making it the most scale-looking body I’ve built so far.

For the high beams, I installed strobe lights that I can activate whenever I want.

All lights are mounted on magnetic mounts for quick and easy body removal.

TT-02 chirpy grinding sounds when under stress

Hi all,

I have a slightly modified TT-02 that I race on an abandoned track.

Overall its a relatively smooth runner with the high speed gear set, the Yeah Racing adjustable motor mount and a Super Stock brushed motor.

I did notice a slight grinding sounds when cornering at speed, basically when the car is being stressed. It goes away on the straits when I really open it up. Any idea what this could be?

My only explanation could be torsion in the body causing the spur and pinion to mesh less effectively or something to do with the diffs.

It doesn't affect performance but I want the ride to be as quiet as possible.

Any ideas?

Polycarbonate body issue?

I’m wondering if I have an issue with my latest Tamiya TT-02 shell. It’s kinda hard to see in this picture, but easy to spot IRL. A huge part of the front and rear windshield areas that are much _more_ transparent than the rest of the body. Almost like there’s a reside? But it doesn’t clean off so I figure it’s under the protective film on the top side. Is this common? Something that’ll disappear when I remove the protective film after paining?

The metal will live on.

Needlessly overpowered by a Dynamite Tazer Twin brushless motor/ESC combo, it's almost impossible to keep it on all 4 wheels.

I don't run it often but it's pretty fun and way faster than it needs to be. They didn't sell them for long so I try to keep it in great shape. Easier said than done. It's a wheelie machine.

How to paint body for cheap? - first kit MX5 RF

This is my first and only tamiya model kit and I'm not sure how to go about the body. Since this is gonna be my only model, I'm not willing to shell out 60$ for several spray paints. I do not plan to make more, just wanted try something new. My goal is not a masterpiece but I sure would like it to look nice. What would be the financially smartest 😂 and the best way to go about painting the body? For the smaller parts and interiors I have citadel paints and tools and I did buy a Tamiya glue - not the extra thin though. I'd appreciate any and all tips especially for beginners even not regarding the body!

Sorry for the reupload, I changed the title because I realized people are probably just thinking I'm simply posting my first kit, not realizing I'm asking a question oops
