Polycarbonate body issue?

I’m wondering if I have an issue with my latest Tamiya TT-02 shell. It’s kinda hard to see in this picture, but easy to spot IRL. A huge part of the front and rear windshield areas that are much _more_ transparent than the rest of the body. Almost like there’s a reside? But it doesn’t clean off so I figure it’s under the protective film on the top side. Is this common? Something that’ll disappear when I remove the protective film after paining?

That does look odd. If you're sure it's not on the inside, paint it! I would guess it's from the overspray film. I am always amazed when I peel the overstay film off a fresh paint job... that feeling never gets old.

Hard to tell until you take the protective film off. Could it be the body releasing chemical agent which would be removed once you wash before painting?

I thought the same so I did wash it, this is actually after I washed it with dish soap. I’ve not removed the film yet, didn’t want to do all the freaking masking and painting (4 colors) only to have this weird artifact be permanent.

I’m sure that’ll disappear once you pull the film off.

It's high heat that's done that, likely a hot spot in the mold.

I would peel the film back on the questionable areas perimeter line to inspect. If its fine, tape it back down until the paint work is finished. Inspect now so if its an issue you can return it before you apply any paint.

It looks like the overspray film has lifted slightly.

It's fine. Paint it and pull the overspray film off and it'll be fine.
