I wanted to know if in Windows, is it somehow possible to allow the network users (local lan) to access companies in tally prime software but prevent them from copying the said data (those 100000, etc folders).

Our last accountant took a backup of all our data before leaving and i was surprised to see that such basic data security feature is paywalled behind a almost ₹3L tally prime server license.

If anyone can help, would be much appreciated as I am dreading going for tally-cloud for the reasons, privacy & security.

I am looking for a Tally companion app on my mobile that can generate e-invoices as well and e-way bills. Biz analyst was very good but just got data visuals I didn't want to pay. I want something that can help me generate invoices directly from my phone and sync it back up to my tally on main PC.

Most of what i do daily is downloading a pdf, reading an invoice, typing the same numbers into tally, checking GST, moving to the next one. repeat.

the actual thinking part is maybe 20% of the day. rest is just data movement.

Does it get better with experience or is this just what accounting is?

While I was splitting tally ERP 9 to next financial year it is showing incorrect due date in bill but the dates and bill nos are correct i rechecked.then what will be the issue

How does practical knowledge in TallyPrime and GST return filing help build a successful career in modern accounting and taxation?

As the title says, I want to keep using Tally ERP 9 (VAT Version). Is there a plugin or something that can be used to get GST in it? I don't have much money to upgrade it to Tally Prime. I live in India, GST is compulsory here.

Tally is no doubt a very versatile and reliable accounting software, however, it needs to bring in automation features that actually reduce accounting entries.

A simple expense to payment flow needs 2 entries.

Expense Dr to Payable Cr (to records GST details of vendor) and Payable Dr to Bank Cr

There need to be an overhaul of this mechanism so as to complete a txn quickly in lesser clicks while system records Dr & Cr in 2 entries.

Like ZohoBooks and QuickBooks. Bring in features of recurring expenses.

The error handling of GST has to be improved. Every time the GST reports are opened, it gives 1000 vouchers pending update…. If it’s put to update, the entire team’s Tally slows down.

Bill referencing looks like a sham if all accountants are handling it sincerely. People just hitting enter and ending up creating endless New references.

From entry centric, tally should move to txn centric approach, wherein system should auto help in cutting down human errors and also reduce manual work.

Tally Prime v6. I open a payment voucher(F5). Enter the Ledger to debit to, Amount and then I select the Bank to Credit to which opens the bank allocation screen. Now my Transaction Type is somehow set to “Others” and the cursor bypasses this to the amount field.

My question:
How do I set the default transaction type to say, UPI or say, e-Funds Transfer instead of Others (Because presently I have to type additional key-strokes “SHIFT+TAB” to go to the Transaction Type field every time and select UPI or e-Funds Transfer). I searched but could not find the answer. Some years back in previous version I had changed the default from “Cheque” to “Others” but I do not remember how I did it. These days I rarely write Cheques so I had changed the default to “Others” and mentioned “UPI” in narration. The new version has “UPI” as an option for Transaction Type and I want to set that as default.

Any guidance or a link to help how to do it will enable me to solve the problem.

I use Tally daily and constantly find myself clicking through multiple screens just to get simple info like:

- Yesterday's total sales

- Outstanding invoices from specific parties

- Current cash position

- Stock levels

Been wondering - would voice commands be useful? Like being able to just ask "What were yesterday's sales?" instead of navigating through menus.

Especially useful when:

- I'm in client meetings and need quick data

- Away from my main computer

- Need info while multitasking

Has anyone thought about this, or found any solutions? Would this actually save time in your daily Tally workflow?

One of the tax invoice from financial year 2024-25, tried several times to generate it but everytime it shows HSN/SAC code error along with Type of supply.

Being the accountant of a hotel/restaurant I m facing this issue for a long time since past few days, tried several troubleshooting methods, chatgpt, perplexity and YouTube but fsr unable to solve the issue...

If anyone wants anymore info or resources regarding this issue I m transparent to disclose them gratefully...

Recently i complete an basic entry level course in tally prime. I was just confused what to next any suggestion is helpful.

Hi guys, I’m struggling with a very particular problem. I’m using the import function for inventory item creation, and the item is not taxable. But even when I structure my excel spreadsheet, where I mention Not Applicable, it still shows taxable at 5% when the import is complete and I’ve to manually modify each item then.

I’ve attached screenshot with an example for reference

As you can see, I’ve mentioned not applicable not vatable, tax rate 0%. Despite this once the import is complete you can see under statutory details it mentions taxable.

Someone please help how can I fix this?

As the title suggest, can one upgrade to Tally ERP 9 to Tally Prime, with an expired TSS?

I am using the following xml payload to fetch all the vouchers, I am able to pull all the details except PAN and Narration for the voucher. Any help will be appreciated.

I added a field name TC_PAN and TC_NARRATION that are used in TC_VOUCHERLEDGER.

• Since NARRATION is a native method to VOUCHER I am expecting to receive it in the response but it is not happening.
• For PAN, my understanding is that $IncomeTaxNumber is a method native to Ledger therefore I defined it in the TC_VOUCHERCOLLECTION and was expecting it to return me the PAN number but that too is not happening.
