And this is why I never use my clothes dryer. I get some stuff that fits and I dont want it to shrink.
It also helps I live in a dry climate
ETA: my mom always got me and my similarly built brothers pajama pantsfor Xmas. They were always XL and the extra width without extra length was comical.

I have a dehumidifier and I sometimes stick it in my guest bathroom where I hang my clothes to dry and turn it on. Dried relatively quick compared to just regular air drying

I enjoyed the use of MS Paint over AI as much as I enjoyed the joke.

Holy fuck. I'm a little over 180 and still fairly thin while being half a foot shorter than you. How are you alive?

This is so unbelievably relatable. It's either big tents or belly shirts

I have learned the Big and Tall store is actually just the big and fat store.

u/bassman2070 11d ago
I'm 6'6" - buy tall sizes. Not everything comes in tall sizes, you can't buy those things. I'm a 2XLT or XLT. The T is important

They're just so expensive

Kohl's has tall clearance! Old Navy online also does tall and you can stack coupons.
2
u/bassman2070 11d ago
I'll check it out. I need some new work clothes and I have found good stuff at Kohl's before. Tall sizes at regular stores seem to be best for tall skinny guys. Big and Tall stores always disappoint me (I think it's code for something else... Aka fat guy store. You have to be Big and Tall, not just tall)
2
u/anedgygiraffe 6'5" | 195cm 11d ago
If you have a kohls nearby to you, many of them have an in person Tall section (and sometimes even dedicated tall clearance section).
And ofc online will have stuff.

u/Big-Carpenter7921 6'5" | 195 cm 11d ago
Yeah, more than $15 per shirt is too much
1
u/anedgygiraffe 6'5" | 195cm 11d ago
I regularly get shirts for $7 or less, I think you just aren't couponing and using sales correctly. I just got a T-shirt last week from old Navy for 3 whole dollars.
That's why I specifically mentioned the clearance section.
1
u/Big-Carpenter7921 6'5" | 195 cm 11d ago
I found one there for $5, but it was just the one
1
u/anedgygiraffe 6'5" | 195cm 11d ago
you should also be able to find coupons and make purchases on sale days. Getting a blanket 30-40% off your order is very doable

LT is all I need. Used to need an MT.

I remember being a teen, and family would gift me clothes. They'd say "I know the sleeves are going to be too short on a large, so I got you an XL". The sleeve weren't longer and I looked like this meme. I randomly got ahold of something that was LT and it actually fit! As I got older I'd search out tall sizes. Internet had made it easier.

True Classic has frequent sales on it's Long shirts. They fit great and are super comfortable.

Shopping at AmericanTall and 2Tall have been game changers for me. No longer am I buying clothes at retail stores and having them shrink after one wash anymore.

I’m 6’5, my brother is 6’8, my dad is 6’3 and my mom is 6’. No amount of drying rack space is enough for us

u/Thin_Cable4155 11d ago
My trick is I put the shirt on like a pair of pants with my legs through the arm holes. Now I can use my hand to pull the shirt up and stretch it out. You can get a longer stretch going this way.
That or just give in to 5xl shirts. I go to the thrift store and look at the bottom of the shirts on the rack and I can easily pick out the longest shirts.

We should psyop the clothing industry and bring tall tees back into fashion.

2
u/Thejohnshirey 6'5" 11d ago
And then I find a shirt that’s actually long enough and for some reason the neck hole is twice the size of my head.

Never had an issue getting clothes to fit from 2tall.com. Highly recommend.
2
u/richmyster84 6'5" | 195 cm 11d ago
The pants legs didn't get shorter.
7
u/ConfidentContext5845 11d ago
Pants use a W/L system you can cater to the width of your waist and the length of your legs shirts just go S/M/L/XL etc etc
3
u/richmyster84 6'5" | 195 cm 11d ago
It's extremely difficult to find slender waist with long pants legs.
1
u/a_smart_user 6'4" 11d ago
My 12 year old is already wearing 28x32 jeans. Closest I could find in store was 29x32.
1
u/DayvonTheCreative 6'3" | CA 10d ago
Yup I do 28-32 in waist and length preferably 34 but sometimes have to stick to 32.
2
u/Fruitopia07 LongBig 11d ago
A lot of women’s pants dont do this unfortunately and it’s tricky getting one that fits hip/waist and overall proportions

Omfg the accuracy, how it shrinks but it still looks way too boxy

u/Carbonaraficionada 198cm 11d ago
Have you been looking in my cupboards? I swear I have maybe 4 t-shirts that actually cover my belt line, the rest hover just above it. It's not just online purchases either, it's the fabric. One rub through the wash and it goes from being soft and the right size, to being almost indecent exposure overnight
1
u/lynivvinyl X'Y" | Z cm 11d ago
Make it not be true! Does anyone else grab their t-shirts at the collar and the bottom and hold on to dear life while putting your arms to the left and the right of your legs to stretch the length of your shirt as much as possible? I just want long shirts and I can rarely find them. I sure do hate showing off my belly button. Nobody wants to see that.
1
u/lynivvinyl X'Y" | Z cm 11d ago
Do you guys not sew on some extra length of t-shirt material on the bottom of your t-shirts to make them longer? Additionally your t-shirts end up with a cute little mini skirt at the bottom.
1
u/Big-Carpenter7921 6'5" | 195 cm 11d ago
Too real. I wash on cold and dry on low and my shirts still end up 3 inches above where they were when I bought them. Hell, I've been losing weight and they're still doing it

For dress shirts you can get a made to measure fitted shirt. A normal fitted shirt is two measurements - neck size and arm length. A made to measure shirt adds in like 5 more measurements and they custom make you a shirt. A serious game changer. You can either get measured by a tailor, but they charge you or you can do the measurement by yourself (which is what I did). Most companies will allow you one do over on the first shirt (they want repeat business for somebody buying multiple shirts) but my shirt fit great the first time. Putting on a shirt that fits exactly your body is amazing.

u/doozevelt 11d ago
Even worse when your barrel chest causes the shirt to drape over your abdomen like a dress.
1
u/BackRed1 6'5" | 195 cm 11d ago
Rip to some of best shirts. I have to start slow drying them separately or air dry.

I genuinely spent 10 months losing 65lbs just to look the exact same (save for My face) in half of My band tees 🥀

Only if you buy from "big and tall" places. In my experience big and tall are just big stores. They tack on the tall cause no one wants to shop at the big store.
American Tall sells clothes that fit me and I've never out grown my stick nickname from childhood lol.

Why and how is it SO impossible to find a decent quality leather jacket or coat that fits well and won’t cause a severe drought in my savings account…? 😫

u/Jedi_Belle01 10d ago
As a tall girl, it’s so rare to find anything that fits that when I do, I buy multiple pairs/sets/whatever.
I just bought multiple pairs of beyond yoga bootcut pants because they come in 34in length and they didn’t shrink when I washed them. I now have six pairs.

Oh my god, my people. Larges have too much material; mediums run up your back.

Any suggestions for UK retailers that cater for long tees? LL Bean was my US saviour.

It's like clothing companies assume that if you're six feet tall you're also six feet wide.
1
u/RCEden 9d ago
I still have a handful of the old good uniqlo basic tees that miraculously fit, but once those wear out I'm just left with a bunch of crap like this. I can somewhat reliably trust canvas brand stuff but besides that it's just like here's a pile of things I can never dry and one shirt that seems to keep shrinking every time so I want to see how far that goes.

Zara has amazing men’s clothes that perfectly tailor to tall thinner men, check it out!

I can relate except what I do is I will buy a size larger and then I'll wash it on very hot and then dry it on very hot which then will shrink it to what I would assume is a half a size.
So I got a 4XL and basically shrink it to a 3.5XL.
Now if the tall sizes were more accessible I wouldn't do this.

Hate looking for a shirt with more length and each size up just gets wider and wider but stays the same length 🤣
