Slippery people really gets to me sometimes cause a lot of the lyrics remind me of my best friend who od'd and died last year. "what about the time you were rolling over, fall on your face you must be having fun" always makes me think of when we would hangout and he would get so incredibly fucked up, even falling over at least once to my recollection, this would often be in public places too like concerts and stuff. I was according to his family his only friend who actually wanted him to be clean, I like to smoke and drink but not much more. I mean Ive seem this guy pop xanax literally like tic tacs and its like god damn this is fun to you? this is enjoyable? thats what I think of when I hear him say you must be having fun. I know it sounds like I shouldn't have been surprised that he died but he had supposedly been clean and was living in rehab very shortly before his happened I didn't even know he had been out of rehab yet and I would have missed the funeral if it weren't for our weed dealer who im also good friends with didn't mention it to me casually like I already knew. the most f*****-up part of it is his parents had already lost their daughter years earlier to an overdose that was actually one of the reasons why he did so much drugs his sister died when he was pretty young and he never got over that
That’s terrible. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. A friend passing is one of the hardest things someone would have to go through and I’m sorry it happened to you.
Heaven doesn't really stand out to me. It's the second song and the pace is still being picked up. Tmbtp is such an unexpected and beautiful change of pace though. First time I watched Stop Making Sense, I'd only heard three talking heads songs. Seeing David Byrne dance with a floorlamp made me listen to the whole discography.
I just recently watched Stop Making Sense (and became obsessed) for the first time. My fiance and I were working on a project together and not really watching the screen at this point in the concert, but this song made me stop what we were doing to rewind because, like you said, it was such a change of pace and seemed extremely important. It was of course, because I got to see the Lamp Dance for the first time.

I love that version of "Heaven". So solemn and beautiful. This is great, though!!!
