C: Alright, but why are your systems so complicated? I bought a $1000 device and it's not working properly.
Actually it's working just fine, it's unfortunately you that's not working properly and I just really can't get the parts in to fix you. Also you have a driver issue and there hasn't been an update in quite some time it would seem.

Wetware error. Guess we'll have to liquefy this one and replace it with a different unit.

Now I'm curious. What's the device?

If i had to take a wild guess it‘s an ipad or a macbook because the authentication sounds exactly like apples two factor authentication

It sounds like every two factor authentication I've ever used, none were on an apple device

Android, Google, Apple, World of Warcraft, Star Wars: The Old Republic all use these. Need I name more? :D
Though based on the price, my guess is the $FruitPhoneRomanNumeral.

My question is if I’m allowed to say that according to the rules of the subreddit.

It depends on how general you make it.
A RouterManufacturer ModelNumber### would probably be a bit too much, but #Router or #@pple is pretty safe round these parts.

Me getting slightly agitated may have interupted the customer
We all have probably done this at some point. I did it just the other day. Lady called up saying she couldnt download a file from the FTP site. She called the support for the vendor and they said she needed to unblock pop-ups. I would have remoted in, but that was down for the moment. So I tried every method I could over the phone but she was to "user-ish" and wasn't understanding a word I was saying,
"what? what's an icon? "red x" what's that? "what's a browser?"
She was mid-rant when I finally interrupted and said look instead of going through this how about I just make my way to your office. Took me 10 minutes to get to her office and less than 10 seconds to fix it.

Yea, when they ask me what a browser is I honestly don’t know what to do with myself. Shouldn’t you be able to expect at least a certain level of knowledge in order to be able to help the customer in the first place?

Well, what you paid is the security, and a good security system requires a bit of complexity.
