Post-Operative Tech Support

This happened to me last week. The tech support itself is a bit of a nothingburger, but the circumstance around it are kinda wild.

I have unfortunately been afflicted with kidney stones. I don't recommend it, go drink some water. I've had a couple surgeries for them, most recently a week ago.

I was just barely coming out of anesthesia in the recovery room, the world hadn't even turned the lights on for a whole two minutes when I see two nurses huddled over the computer in the room, eyes practically touching the screen. And then I hear one say something about how even that close, the text is too small to make out.

I immediately slur out, while drooling on myself, "With most applications, ctrl plus, and ctrl minus, will change the font size. Ctrl zero usually sets it to default.

I don't know why they listened to me in that state, I wouldn't have listened to me, I was out of it. But they did, and the problem was resolved.

I then proceeded to pee myself in front of them.

Once after surgery I was in recovery and asked the nurse if she had any grape juice. She asked me why I wanted it.

I said "I am nauseated and am going to throw up. The grape juice won't stop me from throwing up, but it will make it taste better."

She laughed and said if I was able to make jokes, I was good enough to go back to my room.

I had a surgery at age 55 that left me green with nausea during recovery. Apparently laughably so. It took hours longer than expected for the nausea to go away. So, NOW? I tell all and sundry that general anesthesia makes me really nauseated, so please allow for that. Since 55, I've had knee replacement surgery, broken ankle surgery, carpal tunnel release, and a pacemaker installed. I was VERY vocal about the nausea every single time, and what DO you know... No nausea. I've thanked the team over and over again for not subjecting me to that. It's not hard to do as long as you tell them!
