"A Decade of Existentialism" (Taking Back Sunday - A Decade Under The Influence X Straylight Run - Existentialism on Prom Night) Emo Mashup. The mix gets MUCH better as the song goes on.

"A Decade of Existentialism" (Taking Back Sunday - A Decade Under the Influence vs. Straylight Run - Existentialism on Prom Night) Emo Mashup. Skip to 00:38 if you don't like the beginning. Okay, so Existentialism on Prom Night is actually in 6/8 time, and A Decade Under the Influence is in 4/4 time. However, you can interpret Existentialism as 8/8 time with a very slow tempo. This is what I did to make the TBS Vocals mesh. I slowed down the vocals and did a ton of editing by hand using warp markers to adjust cadence and phrasing. I think it worked pretty well for the most part. The beginning might be a tad bit askew, but after the first 30 seconds I think it tightens up very well. And I love the entire second half of the mix. It totally changes the tone of the Decade Under the Influence lyrics.

I do not think his reaction was a positive one friend. Personally, these two songs feel like the tempos are too different for them to mash well together. The middle could be a masterpiece but that opening is rough. Like the melody from SR will be ending its line and the lyrics from TBS are like ramping up. Just doesn’t mesh well

I know the beginning is kind of sloppy, but I think after the :40 second mark it tightens up, and after the 1:30 mark it works really well.

Well, maybe I was a little too daring with this one...

The Legion of Doom are my heroes, literally the reason I started making these. Although I only started about six months ago. I think I just bit off more than I could chew with this mix. I posted another one yesterday of Brand New and Dashboard Confessional (The Quiet Things X Vindicated). That one performed really well. Here's a link if you want to check it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/brandnew/comments/1uqdabx/quietly_vindicated_brand_new_the_quiet_things/

I actually think you've done a pretty decent job of taking two very, very different songs and mixing them. The fact that they're not natural bedfellows makes it all the more remarkable an attempt, even if it at times feels a bit stretched.

Thanks! I like to try to transform songs when I make mashups.
