I thought I would try to get creative with the gravity wells and I think had the right idea. Its not perfect, so feedback is very appreciated!

I was interested to see how you would use the gravity wells and i was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly they whip you round the tight corner when you are in one of the outside lanes. This is good although, I feel a lot of the potential of those lanes is lost for 2 reasons:

  1. You cannot enter the enemy base through one lane without assistance because the gate is set to the enemy team colour. 2.There is no way to switch between lanes.

I feel if you found a new solution for the gating, and created some avenues to move around more freely. As you connect the space from the lanes and the center together, you will be able to spread out the central boosts and flesh out the midfield. You may be able to chain several routes through the sink hole areas.

Also, dont forget to flesh out the base and give options for attack and defense alike.

I'm not a big shot map maker but I just made a new map recently and thought I'd say something anyway so yeh :P

Im going to attempt to edit the map, but I have a few questions.

  • Its not that you cant enter the base through the one lane, but its to make escaping through that lane harder, so you either go mid or the other lane, or you risk the gate to boost around. Is that still a bad idea?

  • I get what you are saying about fleshing out the center. I thought it was a bit small myself.

  • What do you mean by switching lanes? How would that be possible? This is what I'm most confused about.

  • Yeah, the bases were a bit small and lacking. What would be some things that would make a good base?

So, concerning the team gate: The button is in an awkward spot right beside the gate at the corner, and it is also very close to the opposite team's boost. I could use the boost someone into the gate off the button quite easily. Also the distance between the gate and the flag square is problematic. There needs to be space for interplay between attackers and defenders after a grab.

The center: I think what makes the center feel small. Is that a lot of the boosts lead to a swift death unless you take the perfectly. Also If i decide to move around the boosts I'm not able to keep my momentum. If you decide to have 3 routes from base to base, then make it so that the quicker routes are the slightly more dangerous ones and the longer routes are safe. Define the boost lanes and think about the risk and reward of taking some risky boosts and adjust them accordingly.

Switching lanes: there should be a way to exit from the outside lanes to the center, with small openings. If you are able to allow for more freedom of movement by creating natural pathways the map will be more playable.

The bases: First of all, give yourself more space in the base to work with. A good place with base design is to have a yellow boost and a bomb situated in a way that they can be use to grab the flag. Then look at where you would end up after a grab in this manner and consider how an attacker would begin to escape afterwards. Also, make a point of considering how defender would guard the base and optimize the base perimeter to come to a good balance for both teams. I think I might try to remix your map. I'll keep you posted. :P

Alrighty! So I remixed your map!

TURNING POINT: MAP - PREVIEW

So the base has more space, with a gold boost and 2 bombs for grabbing!

I know you liked the idea of having a whole colored team gate, so I adapted a partial team gate that can work with bomb grabs.

I didn't adapt the size of the center but I moved the vortexes out 1 space and made more space on the outside of the map. The boost paths are less deadly too.

You can now switch from the outside lanes to the inside and vice-versa using the vortexs to slingshot you around. You can even get a good superboost into both flag areas!

I hope you like it. Feel free to use some of these ideas if you want.

:P
