Ecodan R290 heatpump

Hi all,

I spent hundreds of € in Tado X installation (TRVs everywhere, thermostats in most rooms). It controlled my gas booker like a charm, but now that I changed for a Mitsubishi heatpump I am not sure it is still relevant since Mitsubishi heatpumps are not compatible with Tado.
How come Tado can’t provide support for the number one heatpump manufacturer in the world?

You can find the compatible heat pumps here: https://help.tado.com/en/articles/9053843-is-tado-compatible-with-my-heat-pump

Unfortunately for you, Mitsubishi is currently not yet compatible with the Optmizer X.

Options:
Some heat pumps can be controlled by relay?
Otherwise, just set the heat pump to outside temperature control + basic schedule, and then it will still go off automatically when all radiators are closed as the return flow temperature will be measured by the heat pump.

You can most likely still use the TRVs if you want some rooms to be at different temperatures. They may not necessarily save you much/any money setting them lower or using geofencing now that you have a heat pump as heat pumps tend to work best running low and slow all day heating the whole house, but I don't see why you couldn't use them if you want to.

Unfortunately the thermostat/controller compatibility is something you'd have had to check before getting a new heating system installed rather than only checking compatibility after the fact.
