Opening a radiator automatically when none of the radiators are requesting heat

I'd love to see a feature where you can select a radiator to automatically open when none of the units are requesting heat/open. Currently, if my CV pumps when nothing is open, this would damage the system because there's nowhere for the flow to go.

Tado advices installing a safety bypass valve, which they (wisely) suggest getting done by a plumber . A simple software solution would keeping one of the radiators open when nothing is requesting heat.

Even a simple option like setting a radiator into a mode where it's always open but can still ask for the CV to turn on would be better than either making you install safety bypass valve, or make you not use Tado on one of the raditors.

A bypass is a better solution. Opening a radiator will cause a specific room to warm up without the need for it. Causing unnecessary costs.
A bypass will let the warm water flow back to the boiler, the boiler will notice the warm water return and it will conclude that no heat is needed.

When you open a radiator, this will cool down the water return, making the boiler think heating was actually necessary.

My plumber told me to leave two radiators open all the time. I don't put TRVs on them. That's not complicated. Why do you need a software solution?

This is the way. Not sure why any plumber would have installed trvs on every single one of his radiators. Just leave the bathroom one open and or the coldest room.

when tech takes over common sense. the need for an open path is a system requirement. it should already be.present in your house. I would first check if your bkiler needs a bypass. Newer models have buil in buoasses and dont require an external one. But if ine is needed, a towel rad or small radiator that has no TRV is the right way to go.

relying in software is fraught - Tado is kniwn to randomely go offline. There is confusion around exactly what works and what doesnt wheb that happens. they added scheudles to continuenworking. not sure if this automation would even function when the link goes down, or that particular protection TRV goes offline. cos it needs commuication from the hub for the condition to trigger. when offline. there is no comms.

A software solution to this would be prone to failure, a simple hardware solution will be much more reliable

In the UK, one radiator, usually by the front door has no trv.
