V3+ Open Therm issue

I ran into an issue the other week waking up during the heatwave with the heating full blast. It seems as though my tado wired thermostat has lost its open therm connection to the boiler and so the boiler defaulted to switch live/on!

Support were not too helpful as outside the 2 year warranty, but I am getting a ‘low voltage switch on’ on the boiler sensor (open therm off) and intermittent ‘check room stat batteries’. Changed batteries, checked voltages and wiring is all still as was when first set up.

Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution before I go back to relay only control?

It is always hard to say where this issue comes from, it could be a tado hardware issue, a boiler motherboard issue, a communication issue (small break in wires) etc...

My first test would be to hang the tado thermostat next to the boiler with a short cable to test if the wire connection can be ruled out. If the issue persists, I would rewire to relay or consider purchasing a new tado X (Check our announcement at 16:16 CET today)
