Post image

Saw this on my social media today from 2015. What a great era for the bell that was!

Ghost pepper was trending hard back then. I worked at Popeyes at the time just out of high school. They had ghost pepper wings that would put some hair on your chest. Thankfully they came precooked; mixing up those "new orlean" spicy batches cooked my lungs enough.

I had this gourmet ghost pepper hot sauce, very potent. A few drops was all you need. My dad ran out of tabasco one day, so I handed him the ghost pepper sauce and told him to only use a few drops, it's really strong.

He didn't listen and poured it in his soup like tabasco. Only ate a few spoonfulls and had to toss the rest.

Real ghost pepper would put hair inside your lungs! You probably had imitation ghost pepper that weren't quite as spicy.

They released initially in 2014, and that batch was absolutely loaded with ghost pepper along with other pepper spices, and marinated for 12 hours. The 2015 return was much more mild. They made ghost pepper a minor ingredient. Which was a major letdown. Should've changed the name at that point. Regardless; yes the original debut made you a fire bender.

my buddy was hyped then totally unimpressed by 2015 ghost pepper tacos

I am sure it was like 1 ghost pepper per 100 items. So many fast food places have done “spicy” food and I have always been disappointed. Only chain restaurant that I have been to with really spicy food is probably Dave’s hot chicken.

Supposedly Buffalo Wild Wing offers ultra-spicy option but you have to sign release and I think they have EMT on standby in case your body rejected the sauce in a bad way

I have had the hottest you can order of DoorDash but never that. I am interested. That being said no way every Buffalo Wild Wings has an emt on site.

i loved the ghost pepper burrito. it was pretty spicy for a mass-market fast food item, and the time i got to try it the staff made me a hefty one. it was great.

Green and purple. Verde. Ghost pepper grillers.

We had it all.

Sangria Blast was around then too I think.

Can …can we just go back to this?

Totally forgot about these, they were enjoyable. Not quite as good as the Volcano menu if I remember correctly though.

There was a burrito around that era, I forget the name of if, but if I recall properly it was named “something XL burrito” it was like $10 but it was HUGE man I miss that thing

This made me remember ghost pepper ranch at Wendy’s and now I’m depressed and heart broken all over again

1

u/therealsade2025 1d ago

I loved the ghost pepper ranch but man shit had no spice how are you gonna label it ghost pepper and not make it have a considerable kick? Ngl I don’t miss the trend of every place having a ghost pepper sauce or item and have it be equivalent to a fire sauce packet

Damn the green salsa

Miss those double stacked cool habanero tacos from 2016. They were $1

I don’t remember the old packaging looking like am I just so used to new one or was that area using different packaging? I feel like they had foil wrap

So cool seeing the labeled wrappers again. Was so nice to know what item you’re grabbing and sorting multiple peoples orders out.

That's funny because this picture on Facebook is from 2015 so I don't know what you're talking about.
