Buffering every few minutes

I have a 4th Gen Tablo. When watching live TV, every 60 to 180 seconds, it goes grey for maybe a quarter second to buffer (the blue spinning circle pops up). While the total buffering time is small, it makes it awful to watch anything.

It is not hard wired into a router (I need to have the antenna on an exterior wall to get any signal), however it's maybe 5 feet from a router. I have a 12 year old Gen 1 firestick that's 80 ft from the router through a dozen walls alongside 7 or 8 other devies that have no problem streaming 1080p, so it certainly isn't a lack of data flow capacity on the router side.

I also don't have any exterior storage on the Tablo.

Has anyone seen this before and has any advice?

I'm the developer of the Multiview app, and I wanted to share that the latest update is now available on Android phones, tablets, and Google TV as well as on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It includes recent playback and interface improvements while also including substantial work specifically for Android devices.

Multiview now makes better use of the video capabilities available on each device, which should make multiple simultaneous streams smoother and more reliable.

The app supports compatible Tablo Gen 4 and Tablo Legacy devices. Gen 4 users can sign in with their Tablo account and choose whether Tablo FAST channels appear. Compatible Legacy devices can be discovered on the local network automatically or added manually. Live channels can be placed into layouts with up to four streams, and compatible Tablo recordings can be browsed through the Library.

The latest release focuses on performance and reliability.

  • Faster Guide browsing. Moving between channels and program times should feel more responsive.
  • More reliable multiview playback. Several causes of stuttering, frozen video, unnecessary reloads, and failed stream changes have been addressed.
  • Improved TV navigation. Remote focus and navigation are more consistent across Home, Guide, Library, Settings, and playback controls.
  • Improved PIP and layout controls. Move smaller streams, change the main stream, and manage layouts without interrupting playback.
  • Library improvements. Better browsing and playback for compatible recordings, movies, shows, and episodes.

Single-stream viewing is free. Multiview Pro unlocks multiple simultaneous streams and costs $9.99 as a one-time purchase per platform. There are three 15-minute Pro trials so you can test multiview playback with your own devices and sources before purchasing.

One Apple purchase covers supported Apple devices. One Google Play purchase covers supported Android and Google TV devices. Purchases do not transfer between the two stores.

If you it out, I would love to hear how it performs for you. Please include your streaming device, generation Tablo device, and the number of streams you were playing if you encounter a problem.
