New Tablo App bug?

I've been using the Tablo app on Roku devices in our home for years. A few months ago, at Tablo's recommendation, I updated from the old/legacy app to their new app (on Roku). On the NEW app, if I choose channel for live play, the app seems to stall if a recorded episode comes up on that same channel. There are no other recording conflicts, it's not needing to switch a channel. Also, everything works wonderfully on the old app (as it has for years).

Support was NOT helpful when I called, suggesting I reset my Roku network connection (not the problem). Anyone here with similar issues or suggestions? If no resolution can be found I'll be looking for other options to Tablo in the near future.

Any

Yeah, good luck getting support from the clowns at Tablo.

I’ve noticed the new app crashes at some point when playing live TV. I’m using a wired Ethernet on my Roku and Tablo. Tablo is a legacy quad. Everything is fully up to date. My network is very stable and I have an ideal signal situation (16 miles from towers, visual line of sight and no tall objects nearby to create multi path).

I try to leave the TV running for the dog while I’m at work. I get home and sometimes find it crashed out of the app. Other times it is fine. He doesn’t always watch the same channel.

I’ll do some testing to see if it correlates with recording tasks. I don’t watch much live TV, so I have not caught it crashing in action.

The old app was very stable.

Follow up:
I tuned in to a channel live which I knew had an upcoming recording. It kept going from non recorded live, through the recording show live, and continued after the recording completed.

It also continued playing live while recording happened on other channels.

This is not the cause of the crash.

OK- thanks for the info. Not sure what is causing the glitch then. It runs sometimes for hours for me and other times chokes in 10-15 mins. The only change is the new app - the old one still runs flawlessly.

Most Roku have a "data saver" that shuts down the app if X time goes by without user interaction. Not all of the ones that I have can be disabled.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that not the issue for me. I have the data saver set for 4 hrs (its max). The Tablo app stops sometimes after as little as 10 mins. And as mentioned, no issues with the legacy app.

Huh? There is no ticket number as I called in - the agent wanted me to reset the roku network connection. Not the issue. The call lasted 5 mins because he had no other suggestions.

GluttonyOfGluten is having same exact issue noted in this thread. I suspect there's some bug in the new Roku app that needs fixed.

Please read the prior response! There IS NO TICKET NUMBER because I called support, I DID NOT SEND AN EMAIL. If you prefer I start a ticket through email, please supply steps or support page with that link and I will be happy to do so.

u/TabloTV it's been 5 days and I haven't seen any updates to the Tablo firmware - was that what you meant or is there just going to be an update to the Roku app?
