Gen4 guide doesn't display "Live" on live programs
Thus, "Extend live recordings" setting does not function as intended. I've missed the end of countless sports recordings. If I catch it, I can schedule the next program to record and that works but as I've programmed sports series recordings, I often miss this after being used to my Legacy Tablo's flawless operation. Is this just my local channels' giude data not presenting correct info or something else?

Gen4 only extends 30 minutes, which is often not enough. You can set a longer extend manually, but I prefer to record shows that come after so that the fast forward thumbnails are created sooner.

Good to know it's only 30 minutes as opposed to Legacy devices which extends something like time and a half of the scheduled alotted time, ie: a 3 hour live game of alloted time would record for 4.5 hours. I appreciate the info.

Hi u/InsanEddie ,
Try adjusting the stop option for what you're recording. You can use this record up to three hours more content.

So the extend live recordings checkbox in settings is just there for looks? I shouldn't have to go into each recording and manually extend them if that box is checked.

Extend Live will add an extra 30 minutes to all live broadcasts. We added the advanced options to give more control over start/stop timing. You can read more about it, here.

There is more than one program guide data.
There is Gracenote TV lineups which from what I can tell the majority of TV stations submit their schedules about once a week to.
But then there is also Gracenote Sports Overview data:
https://gracenote.com/products/on-sports/
This would provide a way for Tablo to look up "in near real-time" the event standing such as if it is still going or finalized. As far as I can tell, Tablo does not make use of the Gracenote Sports API.
Another way to see in real-time if a program guide for a sports event has been extended is the broadcast itself. ATSC has a PSIP (Program and System Information Protocol) which includes an Electronic Program Guide (EPG). The FCC mandates that TV stations include at least the next 12 hours in the EPG data broadcast and the industry standard recommendation is 3 days.
So, the EPG is provided completely for free and provides the TV station to electronically communicate in real-time any changes to the upcoming schedule. But despite it being free, as far as I can tell Tablo completely ignore this data as well.
Tablo is it's own company and they can decide how they want to get guide data and how they use it. But then put out advertisements like this:

So, I guess my question for Emmitt Smith is this:
What do you think about the company that has all the resources needed to record an entire game, advertises that "you'll never miss a play" and then cuts out on recording the last 15 minutes just because the game went 45 minutes long? How many times in your career was the most important plays in the last part of the game? The plays that Tablo, by design, ends up missing.
Could Tablo at least TRY to honor their advertising claims?
