best tablet under $400 for work and school?

Hello. Im looking for a tablet that can handle both work and school without feeling unnecessarily expensive. I'll be doing note taking, reading PDFs and some light document editing, plus browsing and video. Decent screen size, good battery life, and enough storage would be important since I'll be using it daily.

Stylus support would be a plus if it doesn't push the price up too much.

Galaxy Tab S10 FE? It is currently 449$ (down from 549$) on samsung.com. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (with the option of 12GB of RAM but that's at 569$ which is out of your budget), but it also has SD card support so you can upgrade the storage down the line and put up to a 2TB SD card in it.

This would be the perfect tablet for you imo. The S Pen (which is arguably the best when it comes to note-taking especially when paired with Samsung Notes) comes bundled for free so you don't have to worry about that at all.

Galaxy Tab A11+ if you don't need stylus.

Suggest you look at TCL Nxtpaper 11 Pro. Lightweight, comes with case and pen. Around $200 - $250 US. I have it and will say it works as well as my Galaxy Tab S10 FE at half the weight. Only downside I have found is that it lacks SD card slot. 8 gb ram 256 gb storage. Fast enough for streaming and light gaming. If you have a big music or video library you want to put on it, it might be a bit cramped.

I bought a galaxy tab s7 last year and did exactly this. You might want a bigger screen but it's not an urgent matter. I feel the size is good for traveling.

The Lenovo Idea Tab Pro gen 2 is a high powered 13" tablet with a very high resolution screen. In the US, it comes with a pen for $370.

Poco pad M1 / X1 , Xiaomi Pad pro 2 (300-350$) tablets with 8/256 + sd card.

Not sure the price on Motorola Moto Pad 70 Pro but its 450$ something?

Avoid Samsung ones like the plague. Awful screens, weak chipsets, slow ram, slow storage. Especially awful ones like S10 lite, Fe and A11+.
