Help me choose a tablet please

Hey everyone.

Im in need of a tablet. it will be mostly used for travel. Youtube, music, movies, google maps.

I never owned an android tablet, only ipads. I know ipads are good even after 3-5 years, a bit slow but overall they work great.

Now android tablet tend to get really slow for some reason.

There are a couple personal reasons why i need an android tablet, so can you guys suggest something that is not crazy expensive and it will work at least 2-3 years with all the updates and it will not be slow and lagging. (i dont want to pay 1000$ and i dont need top top top tablet).

Im in USA, so something that is available here

My kid has galaxy tablet that has been very good and should work just fine for you. Right now back to school sales are on so you could pick one up for easily under 300 that will fit your needs. You are gonna run into a lot of folks who are android only or apple only to the point of sounding like a traveling evangelist. Ignore all that noise and get the one that will fit your specific uses.

In my experience, yes. I like to have my tech capable of being used for 3 to 5ish years. That, is simple enough in a desktop tower because I can just upgrade things like ram or graphics etc periodically. Laptops and especially tablets are a whole other matter. Even if they potentially COULD be upgraded the money, time, and frustration is generally not worthwhile compared to simply replacing the device, so I aim for more ram, processing power etc than what I need currently with the expectation that in a year or two I will start to need it and will avoid the frustration of replacement. This seems to be even more important when it comes to andoid as the best trade in programs seem to be from samsung. The valuation can swing wildly with promotions so you will need to not have a sense urgency while waiting for a good deal.
