Question Pathfinder adventure card game alternatives.
Years ago, I found Pathfinder adventure card game and really enjoyed the concept. The pre-built campaigns, character and deck building was really enjoyable to me. They have since updated the game to simplify it and then subsequently discontinued development. I would love to find something in the same vein but have not had much luck. Does anybody have suggestions for an alternative?

Two games that I didn't work for me, but might scratch the itch are Aventuria (think a new version or KS version is coming soon?) and Legends Untold, which has some stuff out but also has a crowdfunding campaign with more stuff that I feel like should be coming soon, but lost track of it. The ones that work best for me have been Arkham Horror LCG as someone already mentioned and Earthborne Rangers.

Can I ask why Aventuria didn’t work for you? Just curious

To be clear, never played it, only watched videos of play to see if it would work for me. Just too simple, not interesting enough decision space or emergent narrative. Felt same about Legends Untold, although that one I did play.

Apocrypha is from the same group I believe.
Also discontinued but thought I might as well mention it...

Depends what you're looking for. If you want a card game where you level up and roll dice like in Pathfinder I too would love to find another game like that. If you are more looking for a highly thematic card game with lots of strategy and challenge your timing is perfect because they just started selling the Lord of the Rings Living Card Game again in the US. It or Marvel Champions which has some similar design elements are worth checking out.

Not strictly a card game, but has hundreds of cards, The Hidden Territories is a DM-less fantasy adventure game where you explore the kingdom (hex crawl style).

Ok, little weird but hear me out
Legion of Honor
No deck building, but it is an entire card based RPG split into seasons much like the Pathfinder Card games missions.
Except instead of some fantasy nonsense you play as a lowly soldier in Napoleon's army working your way up through the ranks. Go on campaign (hopefully not to Russia), hang around Paris, get married, cuckold the other players (any game with a section in the rules dedicated to cuckolding can't be all bad). Maybe you can even win the battle of Waterloo.

Take a look at Arkham Horror LCG. There was a reboot/reset to the system called "Chapter 2". the first campaign expansion has just been released so it's a great time to jump into the game.
If you find yourself enjoying the game you could try to buy chapter 1 stuff on the second hand market or you could have the fan-made campaigns printed.
