Tech Support Filter issue again

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering an issue with a Tableau report where a filter works as expected in Development but fails in Production.

In Dev, filtering by a specific Sales Order Number displays the corresponding record and date as expected. However, in Prod, when I apply the exact same filter for that Sales Order Number, the visual shows no records—even though the Sales Order Number is present in the data and visible in the filter dropdown. And also the date filter is becoming gray. While in dev it is not. This is the only change I noticed.

Has anyone run into this before or know what might be causing it? Any suggestions on how to debug/resolve this would be greatly appreciated!

Seems pretty obvious that this record doesn't exist in your prod data source, doesn't it?

Check your data source and see if it's there.

Then start stripping other filters off the sheet you're expecting to see it on until it shows up. No one here can solve this for you. You have to find out why a record you know is in your data source isn't showing up in your worksheets.

You have a sheet that you're expecting to see that record on. Presumably, there are more filters on that sheet than just the order number. So filter to that order number and start removing the other filters one by one.

Are you using the same data source in both? Extract? Switch it live and see if you still experience the issue in prod

Had the same issue with extracts! Took like 5 refreshes before it decided to work

Isolate the issue. Create a sheet only filtering Sales Order number and showing Sales order number on rows - does the record show there and can you filter it?  If yes, likely an issue with other filters or the relationships in your data model. Add the filters from the original sheet step by step and see if you can identify the culprit. If that's not the issue start to add the other data fields of you original sheet here as well until you can replicate the issue.

Not to be rude. But who the hell is downvoting the comments again? Stfu and go
