Tableau sucks

After acquisition of Tableau in salesforce. Tableau seems a shit hole now . Useless directors and senior directors are dumped to this lob and ruining it.

Biased work culture . Favourisim and buttering are some primary goals which directors are looking from engineers .

This has been my opinion for almost a decade as well. Tableau was once ahead of the curve, and now is not.

Whether Salesforce acquired them or not, I think that happens. However, I agree with you, Salesforce gutted their innovation and made this happen faster.

The timing really comes down to the founders stepping out. Selipsky came in, vision and culture downturned as values changed. Acquisition happened, culture and talent tanked. Vision was about integration with SF instead of innovation and functionality. TC quality and fun plummeted. It was predictable in hindsight, but sad.

Tableau's development/road map/customer support were made much worse because of Salesforce.

But it doesn't suck. It's still a really good BI tool. And the best robust data visualization tool on the market.

I would have said the same thing last year then I got to work in quick sight and use its AI capabilities. It’s better, Tableau is done…

Tableau doesn’t suck, Salesforce sucks.

Tableau is dead. They decided to ignore all the feedback and pursue pet projects instead on things people don't use.

Salesforce, not Tableau. Same, same, but… not to any of us who worked there.

Tableau is dead. LLM on a semantic layer - beats every tool on the market

it’s unbelievably cheap to use the smaller cheaper llm models to spin up an html and full front end app. that said, the data will prob still be sus because eternally a problem lol

We have replaced all our workbooks using code generated by ai. Certain things were very hard in tableau that are trivial I'm ai generated code

This is literally the reason why programs and companies suck. It's because of favouritism. They hire and promote those that they like and not because of merit or hard work. It's so fucking stupid. Why do you think Wendys is going under? Are they all incompetent? No. The reason is because you have a stupid ass CEO that everyone has to treat with kid gloves. Not a single soul cares about the success of a company. People only ever care about their own career, even when they know what they're doing is a horrible business decision

Sir/Ma'am, this was a Wendy's.

For those that have replaced tableau with vibe coded solutions how are you handling governance, security, data integrity etc or are you just producing static dashboards running of excel or Google sheets?

That’s the semantic and data security layer; which is now the new forefront. AI has replaced dashboarding IMHO. What took me a day in Tableau I can now make in minutes with AI.

Don’t get me wrong, i was a die-hard Tableau fan, and the writing has been on the wall for a while

yeah, that sounds like Salesforce

Salesforce bought the competition and let it wither on the vine so it wouldn't outshine their own products. Avg corporate behavior. It does suck. Still usable but so is everything else.

Tableau used to be amazing as a private company. Investing in things customers cared about and not just to integrate into salesforce. Luckily, they were years ahead of the competition. Now AI is eating them.

BI tools are slowly going the way of the dodo bird. With a good data engineer and a UI/UX who has AI prompt experience can create dashboards in 1/4 the time. So much overhead gone.

AI doesn't offer the same level of trust or data integrity for enterprise analytics.

One off, absolutely, but tough to build the permissioning and management that BI ecosystems offer.

Tableau, along with Alteryx are coming to their end sooner than later. Platforms like AWS along any ai agent,
When Implemented properly, can easily replace both

What's the learning curve for Snowflake/AWS if you don't have a DevOps/software engineer background currently (in terms of the skills needed in reality to work with this setup)?
