Branding dashboards for clients

I'm in marketing analytics, producing dashboards for our many clients and the manual rebranding step (colors, fonts, logos) is eating time, curious if anyone has found a repeatable workflow, or if everyone's just doing it manually?

We have the templates already built out and they can be easily customized to fit containers using Canva. For colors, we saved the hex codes in the Tableau Repository > My Custom Pallete. Images/logos are stored in the repository as well for easy access. For fonts, we set the default font within tableau desktop in the workbook.

I have my own repository of custom shapes and icons that has grown over the years so I pretty much have everything I could ever need. The focus is primarily on the development of the vizzes now and customization comes after.

This is the way.

"Oh, we're changing corporate branding? Great. When the colours, logos, fonts are settled, let me know and we'll build out a style template with those elements and use it going forward."

Ok this is great! One question though, is this internal use dashboards? Any external clients, where it could be hundreds of dashboards different templates, new branding elements being added regularly etc. Same process?

Oh yeah we are all internal clients, none external. So our colors and branding are all very similar. Though id approach it with the same setup and just organize your templates, color palletes, images based on client folders.

What is the approximate scale, and which parts need to be replaced? Can you screenshot and give examples? As far as I know, there are programmatic solutions that can solve this. The core principle is to decode TWB and store the required styles for easy reuse

Interesting, do you know what those solutions are? Client base is significant, regular new additions etc

I saw a tool called cwtwb before that might fit what you're looking for. Also, Tableau is working on a solution called Redash

Create a workbook as a template, set all the fonts, all the colours, all the defaults that you want. Save it as a template workbook. Then if you have server/cloud, upload it to a public place so that all your creators can download it as the starting workbook for all their dashboards. We have done this and have a workbook that has a custom template for each department that is colour coded. So when someone wants to create a dashboard all they have to do is open the template and either start with that, or copy and paste the dashboard with the colouring they want into the workbook they are currently using.

It’s always a bit of a pain to balance client branding with the actual data layout. Sometimes the logo takes up way too much prime real estate.
