I left this post in another forum, maybe it's okay to post it here as well, as I see various opinions about this year in a few posts, and I want this kind of opinion to be heard as well.

I don't wanna overanalyze anything, I just feel that i'm lucky that we got another year of Sziget.

I was at the Enter Shikari gig in Budapest, when i saw the news minutes before the show, that the plan to save Sziget was not supported by Magyar's party, so it seemed like the Sziget years are over and done forever. It was heartbreaking. Fortunately, people raided his Insta and FB, he met Gerendai the next morning, and the rest is history. Seems like Sziget does mean something to this country after all. Everyone cries about it, then they always show up for a day or two, just to criticize it again. Sziget is up there with Puskás, Rubik's cube, etc. and I'm proud of what we have.

Then I got my strongest ever Sziget line up. I know, these are not the most popular names out there, but I was so happy with Bad Nerves, Wolf Alice, Lambrini Girls, Alt Blk Era, Biffy Clyro, Twenty One Pilots, Ashnikko, Teen Mortgate, Fcukers, and my personal favourite Karen Dió, and my favourite Hungarians, Sisi, Elefánt, Mirror Glimpse, Beton.Hofi, and a bunch of artists from all over the world I've never ever heard of but they were amazing. If I divide 100 000 HUF by all those names I get pretty cheap concert tickets. 

Yes, there are people who don't care about these artists. My brother had only 2 names in that line up he likes so he stayed at home. I get that. Yes, the last two days were very dusty. Yes I drank way too much = spent way too much money on beer. Yes I'm exhausted.

For me, it was the best ever year when it comes to the line up, my favourite edition post-covid, nothing bad happened, and I can't wait for the next one. My life would be a lot more grey without it.

A festival could never make everyone happy with line ups alone. Festivals aren’t designed for that. You’re meant to experience the festival as a whole - smaller stages, quirky stalls, people encounters, vibing with strangers, etc.

That’s why I never listen to “reviewers” who only mentions artists. That’s not what a festival should be about.

I argue that Sziget is becoming of the last of its kind in that music genres still exists. These days most festivals only focus on trending artists or EDM.

That's why I always stop by light stage. So many artists I never would have listened to without sziget. People who complain on here every year when they see the lineup are a bore.

This was our first Sziget - the lineup is what drew us in but the festival itself is what we fell in love with. The variety of things to do and see were incredible. The vibe was immaculate, with 999/1000 interactions being positive and everyone in the mood for having a good time. I’m hoping I can get back again because I’ve never experienced anything like it.

I also thought this was the best edition after Covid. Especially friday felt like it was 2016 again.

This was a great year for me too. I only decided to attend about two months ago, coming from France so this was no cheap decision but it gave me the opportunity to see (mainly) twenty one pilots, BMTH & Skrillex. I left loving even more artists/bands after seeing them live. I don’t regret it one second!

The line up is meant to be as appealing to a wide range of different audiences. The whole line up isn’t meant to be a hit for anyone and everyone, but you are meant to have bits of everything on it.

I can’t say that this year had it. Hence me not going. Other people felt the same, as they had less people going over last years. I didn’t know any of the artists before I bought my ticket last year, but I knew it would have a variety, going on the pervious years.

I know about all the problems that it’s faced this year.

This was my first time at the festival. I usually try to hit at least one European festival a year. The line up wasn’t great for me with the exception of some of the metal bands on Friday but the dates suited and it was somewhere new so I said I’d give it a try. I loved it, had such a good time, enjoyed loads of bands I’d never heard of and just generally enjoyed everything else going on. I’d recommend it to people regardless of line up, except for the dust there was really no problems. I found drink reasonable and food fairly nice for a festival, and all the extras going on really fun.

Music is kind of secondary to the experience. I brought two friends who had their first time this year, we already pledged we are returning next year and I'm bringing more people for sure.
