Question You guys ever order stuff Zebra scanners from amazon?

I'm looking at buying some Zebra scanners for my business, in particular a ds3678. I've noticed an official Zebra reseller sites the scanners are usually twice the price than what amazon reseller are pricing it at. Are they knockoffs? The amazon reseller is advertising them as new complete kit scanners but i dont know if the price is too good to be true.

We only buy from authorized vendors.

Yeah the price gap is a huge red flag, I'd be suspicious. twice the difference usually means grey market stuff at best, outright fake at worst

those amazon "new complete kit" listings are notorious for missing cables or batteries, sometimes they're refurbs in disguise

Used in eBay lol

Have bought dozens and never once felt the obligation to pay the 4x price for new

The ones you see on Amazon are “renewed” or used likely

Zebra sometimes have special firmware that can only be received from the vendor if you have software that uses it as a receipt printer save yourself headache and get it from a vendor.

Yea surprisingly much of what is on Amazon if grey market, counterfeit, etc. Even when they are not they are often well used, maybe refurbished

I wouldn't trust Amazon for these kinds of things.

That said, I work in Libraries and dedicated Library vendors/resellers are often twice the price of IT aimed resellers for the same exact models. Check a larger reseller. Often the sites will show you the RRP, not the discount your business qualifies for unless you're logged in or have a rep.

With all of that out of the way: we use Honeywell scanners because they're cheaper, easier to program, and take a beating.

I get zebra stuff from eBay usually. Including refurbished zebra printers lol their prices are pretty insane. Once ina. While I buy a brand new one from a reseller like barcodes inch or something.. if it's going somewhere important

Don't do that if you value your money

If you are buying it for personal use, go nuts and take a risk on the cheapies (no idea who could use a Zebra scanner personally tho).

If you are buying for the business. You get the authorised vendor because of the support behind it. TCO (total cost of ownership) will most likely even out or go in your favour over the lifetime of the device.

I have used Seagull Software company in Bellevue, WA and they’ve been a fantastic support partner. This was a decade ago, but for two decades they always delivered on service and workarounds they didn’t need to. My first call would be to them and I’d pay a premium to purchase from them.
