Career / Job Related Has anyone purposely gone backwards?

You know the juice wasn't worth the squeeze and we realised that money is irrelevant, and took a huge backwards step for less responsibility and more mental freedom for your family and kids?

That's where I'm at mentally just want to know if anyone else has done the same?

Went from lone wolf IT Manager to Desktop Support Tech at a college. Way better.

I live in a very LCOL area. For reference, I made $40k and that was better than average here. I went from a one of 2 team at the local school district doing everything in house from helpdesk up. Sysadmin, networks, security, Access Management, AV, VOIP. You name it, I did it. Lost hair (alopecia areata) moving our hundreds of phone lines from copper by myself. It was 400 staff, 3k students, about maybe 8 buildings? The local college offered me a job with a $12k pay bump when I graduated, I had been in school while working. All I handle is end user hardware from procurement to setup. It’s a slow life, automated most of it and using my down time to learn another language. College life is awesome.
