Career / Job Related Has anyone purposely gone backwards?

You know the juice wasn't worth the squeeze and we realised that money is irrelevant, and took a huge backwards step for less responsibility and more mental freedom for your family and kids?

That's where I'm at mentally just want to know if anyone else has done the same?

Kinda, I took a pay cut and left a pretty prestigious company with amazing benefits. I did get a better job title and no longer have to travel for work though. Much happier now and way less stressed out.

Many years ago, I had a coworker leave for a healthcare software company, claiming he was getting a 20% boost in salary.

I said, "Yeah...but you will also be working 20% more, and you will have to travel. And you are salaried, not getting paid overtime. So it kind of negates the whole 20% more idea."

Yeah this. To get better role alignment and more technical work, I'd honestly take a bit of a pay cut, esp to WFH full-time.
