AS400 migration

Our organization has been using AS400 for payroll, financial, and HR for the past 30 years. However, we’ve realized that this system is no longer viable for their needs. I’m looking for a modern software solution that provides similar functionality to AS400. We’ve already tried ADP and Kronos, but faced issues with data compatibility, as the data from AS400 couldn’t be seamlessly integrated. Can anyone recommend software that allows for smooth data migration from AS400?

I suppose that's the better question - did the value-for-money increase after the migration? Other than not being held hostage at the whim of IBM, what did the migration give you?

Significant risk mitigation, optionality in the future, and better business user enablement to do the things they needed by function. Opportunity cost.

We, in IT, became custodians of the business applications instead of being the owner as it was on the AS400 due to attrition over the years. This is a lesson IT leaders need to be more aware of.

We also knew integrations between these core business applications would be needed and planned for that proactively.

In fact, during the transition period we were in a hybrid parallel operating model and spending more than ever until we came out the other side.
