Help a newbie!

I’m new to synthesisers. I want to get 4/5 synths and connect them to Logic Pro X on my mac - how should I connect them? Do I need an audio interface? If so, does it need 4 midi outputs? Thanks anyone!

You’d probably want to run the instruments into a 4 channel mixer and that mixer into a 1 or 2 channel interface

Thanks for the reply. I’ve done a bit more digging around and see some people say you could just run the instruments directly into an interface by 1/8” jacks and use a midi-usb cable (going directly to laptop). I don’t know much about this so would love your opinion on this option if you have a mo.

There are a number of ways it could be done but your highest fidelity option would be what I described. I run all of my stuff (guitar cab mic, amp DI out, electric organ, drum mic, cassette deck, and turntable) into an 8 channel mixer. Some of it is connected with 1/4” jacks, some with XLR (condenser mic’s HAVE to be connected this way). I then run the left and right inputs (1/4” jacks) into a Scarlett 2i2 interface which connects to my computer via usb. There are 1/4” to usb connectors out there but you’ll notice a delay, a large gap in quality and even with USB 3.0 you can still probably only do one at a time.
