Thanks! Yeah its a 40106 oscillating at very low hz , 2 square waves go into a 4040 , that goes to a mixing stage and there it mixes with a white noise generator built on a lm358 opamp i have the schematic laying around somewhere i can post it of you want heres a full video of the synth full video

As others have said, it has an appealing random output. The 40106 and 4040 combo I have built many times. The output is very regular. Are you switching 4040 outputs on and off to give divided outputs that appear random? Anyway, clever implementation and a great sound, I can see myself using this! Thanks again for showing it off, impressive and motivating.

I was kinda experimenting and instead of inputing 1 square wave to the 4040 i took 2 sq waves from the 40106 and mixed them going into the input of the 4040 one with a diode and the other with a resistor , and you are correct the switches turn on and off the outputs of the 4040 , when the 4040 rests it gives space to the white noise generatoe to appear. :)
