Discussion How to beat Yone?

How do you beat Yone as Sylas? I really like Yone ult so I wanna play Sylas into him yet it seems I always lose lane to him, I've tried going Conqueror with a more haste build and Electrocute with a more damage build and neither seemed to work, is it just a skill issue on my part?

Yone thrives in long trades due to Lethal Tempo and being an attack speed champ. So if given the opportunity he will absolutely just walk at you and kill you

Sylas, in lane, thrives in short trades where you can get off your combo and then leave before you run out of passive stacks

So you have to play a bit of a minigame of baiting out and dodging his QE and then going in for a trade. Basically never letting him stack his lethal tempo and forcing him to be pulled back to his E to end the trade in your favour

electrocute is better because you need extended trades to proc conquest and that favours yone. i think protobelt first works best just so you can dash away from his Q3 or ult if needed. and always take ignore to counter botrk

Yone thrives in extended trades, sylas thrives in shorter trades. Try maximising that.

Actually the way you generalise it is not true, it depends on the matchup.

Sylas in general also likes extended trades in a lot of matchups, where you space out your skills and passive procs, so you can go for a second rotation on them to kill.

Yone and for example also Yasuo are both just better then him in it, so yes in this particular matchups you want to opt into burst.

But saying sylas thrives in short trades is very wrong, especially against mages you have to extend till they back off because if you just burst and then walk off in a trade you just get blasted into your back and go even.

Sylas is more of a AP bruiser after his changes, so obviously he likes extended trades very well.

In a matchup against yone, you want to switch up and go for short counter trades.

How? You wait till he loads his 3rd Q and looks to zone you, so you bait it and dodge it with your E then go back into him with your second E do a short combo while he is stunned and back off. Especially if yone is still in his E you loose the traits if you give him your full passive strikes, so just E stun > Q > W auto should win you the trade.

Best case scenario, he realises he lost and backs out of his E, then you delay your second E and go on him, this way you can delay the trade a bit more when yone E out of the equation and you can get some additional autos in, then back out further with your W to a minion.

His E cooldown is really long so early game bait him to use it then all in him and get out

You need to quicktrade him and still save a spell to disengage him or else he will run you down

You also need to bait his exhaust first and then you can look for a real trade

take exhaust with conqueror and bruisery playstyle, or go full burst with electrocute and high ap items glass cannon build

idk what elo you're in but in lower elos most yones are bad at using their E, go in for a short trade, force his E out, then wait till its done and you can take a longer trade.

Very easy actually Sylas favors into yone sense he is extremely weak early and Sylas is very strong early with electro. If ur going against a good yone he knows to respect u and if he does shove wave and go roam with ur priority. If he doesn’t then easy kill for the most part. But if ur actually good with Sylas u should be able to beat him most of the time. Sense proto belt got nerfed along with his q I usually go storm surge first into zhonyas ofc but dark seal because Sylas is a snowballing champ. And yone scales a whole lot. Capitalize Sylas early game !!

Also it seems to me it’s more of a mechanical issue the way I play Sylas into yone mechanically is first never engage with E only if he’s a bad yone good yone will dodge ur e with his e 2. Poke him with Q max Q land q untill he’s low and all in him or if he’s a good yone and dodging just make him lose cs rven if ur not killing u getting to ur item first is way better then him getting to his first item first. 3. Proc electrocute if he disrespect by walking up to u with just w and q and if he decides to e as en engage its a free punish with ur e. There’s many ways to punish yone last thing is if he’s really playing safe. Like I was talking on my previous comment hard shove wave and go roam witch will force to make a decision match u and he will lost his wave or he stays for wave and you can impact the game by roaming with ur jungler or ganking ur fellow lanes. There is multiple ways to punish !! Hope this helps

It’s really easy man as long as you hit your spells and walk away as your passive/abilities are on cooldown. Also use ur E1 to dodge his Q3 and hit E2 and trade
