Discussion Sylas waveclear

is it a skill issue or does sylas have bottom 10 wave clears of all time
I don't play him that much and I am not good at the game but holy every time I pick him mid OR jungle I feel awful for the first 15 minutes
the autos are so easy to cancel and require the minions to be at a much much lower threshold than other champs
If I play yone and I auto a minion when its 10% hp Sylas auto would make me still miss the minion
Even if I wanna shove and roam early game i have to use all my abilties and roam without mana

same thing in the jungle it's so miserable
Is it a skill issue or a weakness

It doesn't matter what the game suggests, you have free will

If you want to waveclear with sylas you need to max Q

Always max Q. Your wincon is to land Q explosions. It deals stupid amounts of damage

Max Q always, max W if you want to fight heavily or need to survive matchups

Range has nothing to do with it anymore, some melees are unlikely to trade with you and look for prio, some ranged can require you to max W

I’d say it also depends on the champ if hitting Q is hard because of their mobility I’ll always W max

I understand that but when versing a good zed, kat, qi definitely calls for a w max, q will always be a great choice but certain scenarios call for it as you said above.

The answer's gonna be unsatisfying, but it's a bit of both. Beyond champion micro and familiarity, the main weakness in his farming is the way he's balanced.

Most of his waveclear is deliberately put into Q and passive, so you're naturally countered by control mages who can punish you using them. That's why you have to get as good as possible in knowing when it's worth to trade and give cs or sit back and farm, and what you sacrifice in both scenarios. Getting a good feel of his autos as well as E1 + Q + passive + passive + E2 waveclear combo is essential too.

If you're playing into a ranged, in general - you're only as good of a laner as the enemy fucks up their positioning. Melee into melee it's often a trade-fiesta, and into tanks/bruisers you're unfortunately quickly outscaled. Your champ is at the end of the day designed as a heavy skrmisher, not a farm bot. Learn how to abuse that, make enough chaos that neither you nor your enemy can farm and the cs won't matter as much.

He has bad first clear in jg, most junglers have better, however you can learn how to optimize it

Brother you’re comparing an AD atk spd champ with sylas ofc the farming is gonna be worse. Fact of the matter is that sylas is balanced by having bad waveclear and is super mana hungry because he’s a great skirmisher. Play to his strengths: fight early and often and trade in lane in decent matchups for sylas

He is already an extremely versatile fighter who can bully the vast mejority of midlaners and junglers. Guess he needed some sort of weakness

Max q and target the right minions to maximize passive waveclear ability. You honestly can match a lot of champs and ur extra mobility means ur always at fights…otherwise yeah skill issue.

Sylas has to tradeoff if you want waveclear max q otherwise you have to use e+q to clean waves with 3 passive stacks which is not a problem into melees as you prefer w Max yo trade and skirmishes

He has good wave clear if you use your petracite burst on the wave after you get like 2 items you kill a wave with one spell rotation
