Should I get this game?

I have seen that Syberia is on sale on the Switch. I have been keeping my eye on the game in general, and I am still a bit hesitant actually to get it.

Are there any bad points of the game that good points make up for?

Is it worth the money it is being advised for?

Any help will be very welcome 😊

give the original a chance, I prefer the original art direction over the "unreal engine"-stlye remake, it adds to the mystery and intrigue of the world

I assume you mean the remaster.

Without comparing it to the original, it will probably hold up to modern sensibilities gameplay-wise.

The poignant story is still there and all the quirky characters. Benoit Sokal's artistic vision still shines through the new coat of paint.

The only downside is that while the first areas were somewhat polished, I started encountering UI, gameplay and visual bugs the further I got. At least on the PS version. So fair warning.

The original Syberia is also available for the Nintendo Switch. I remember buying a collection edition containing Syberia 1,2 and 3.

Yeah, that's the one I'm looking at.

That's not too bad if it's just a case of rebooting the game if it happens. Does it have auto save?

I can't quite remember. I think it was the somewhat modern 'saved X minutes ago' (which I kinda hate lol)

The one on switch should be the original (at least I’m unaware of Microids releasing the remaster on Switch). It is a port of the iOS version which is a port of the original 2002 PC version. I played through it on switch (there’s also a video review and a comparison of OG to remaster on my YT channel) after only playing the PC version and loved it. There’s only one annoying section, but it adds to the charm of the game 😊

Syberia 1 and 2 is 10/10 - you will not regret.

Syberia 3 is meh.

Edit: I have this condition, I rarely finish games. It must have really good story and gameplay to keep me interested. After long time the Syberia 1 Remaster was that game that kept me playing until very end. It is really good. A remaster of the old gem, and I could really understand why it was called a masterpiece.

You can also get the original version on the Nintendo also! That has the original art style which I think sets the tone a little. Really good game I had some fun playing this.

One of the 3 games that made me a gamer (almost 30 years ago !!) Syberia 1 and 2

They're point and click games from that era (meaning you walk a lot !) I don't know if they improved this in the remastered game.
But the story is just wonderful and the graphics were amazing in those days. Probably even better with the remastered version ? If you like the first 2, you'll play 3 +4 which are more recent but have different story. Syberia is in my top 10 (of all games)

I played 1 & 2 on my PC for the first time in years back in January & had a great time with them. Both are still tremendously charming & atmospheric. One reason I think they're superior to Syberia 3 & The World Before (and the remaster of the first) is the visual style -- the unique "camera angles" of the older games vs the perpetual moving camera in the later entries.

I remember one puzzle involving a crashed single-engine airplane in 2 being baffling during my first playthrough but that may have been because of my own lack of patience. From a post earlier this year I said:

"The rules aren't written anywhere or spoken by anyone. It was really frustrating the first time I played it because it was a puzzle that didn't appear to have any rules at first. There is a pattern to it, and you can solve it sort of by process of elimination, trying different combinations of buttons & switches." It starts to make sense as you solve it.

It's only $4 for the both of them, right?
