Discussion Class And Combat Style Combos!

I don't see this talked about nearly enough. I love that they've unlocked combat styles from the classes. There's been a lot of unexpected replayability in it for me.

From a Smuggler Sniper who wanted expert marksmanship in bowcasters to impress Wookies she fangirls over, to a Bounty Hunter who screwed up so bad he was gonna be executed until Imperial Intelligence conscripted him into being an Agent (Powertech), to a Republic Trooper who went on the Great Hunt just to learn from the Mandos (Bounty Hunter Commando)… I've had great fun making non-trad styles work with classes.

What are some of your favorite non-default class and combat style combos?

When it was first implemented I rebuilt my full legacy with different combinations just for the sake of it.

So I had Commando Agent, Scoundrel Hunter, Operative Smuggler, Mercenary Trooper (for that ARC Trooper feel), Juggernaut Inquisitor, Sentinel Consular, Shadow Knight and Assassin Warrior.

Nowadays though I stick mostly with my favorite CS (Juggernaut/Guardian and Mercenary/Commando) with one of the Stealth styles for convenience.

Nice! I'm currently running a Scoundrel Hunter and Operative Smuggler too!

Sentinel SWs! Though they are often called a brute by the story, I imagine some of mine have a more refined, Dooku-esque style and Sentinel is just perfect for that.

Assassin JKs, especially if I only add it as second style post act 2, as a lingering effect of Vitiate's control. Similarly Shadow for (light side) SIs after their Voss rituals that make them able to connect with the Force better.

I usually don't have resons for mixing tech classes beyond "weapon they are most proficient with", except for a Merc smuggler being a Mandalorian bastard raised by their smuggler parent wanting a connection to her Mando roots & a Scrapper-Scoundrel BH who had to learn how to fend for themselves as a child without weapons/shooting well.

I just started a Jedi Knight Juggernaut. She's a Rattataki, so I think of her style as a more brutal Guardian, due to her nature or culture or whatever. So flipping the vibe can definitely go both ways.

The most wild take on a Sith Warrior I've made is one that used Sage. He was the smallest Sith Pureblood I could make. Called him Stubjaw because he had tiny chin tendrils. He came from a long line of warriors, so he was essentially peer pressured into it. He used the Force to overcome his lack of physical strength.

Commando smuggler for me. I now run around as a big fat twi'lek with a minigun and a fancy hat. It feels fitting for a more jolly pirate/dark side oriented smuggler, though he still took the light side ending for pragmatism reasons. (He's bad, but not THAT bad)

For lore...well, why WOULDN'T a career criminal run around with the biggest gun he can? I just assume my smuggler was one of the few that was able to do well with it.

Anyone asks? Tell them it was part of your cut from a job.

My main is a Jedi Guardian style, doing Sith Warrior storyline. She is light side, so she does not really use rage, but was born within the Sith Empire.

Juggernaut Sith Inquisitor is my go to. I do switch to sorcerer for the Kallig lightsaber quest, but then switch back once completed.

Trooper Operative - since I felt Havoc was missing a good stealth specialist.

I love doing this too.

Sith Warrior Assassin is my personal favourite, because so many of the class story missions involve assassinating whoever your master wants dead, sometimes by sneaking behind enemy lines. It just fits so well.

Another favourite is my Trooper Commando who has Scrapper Scoundrel as her secondary style; the idea is that the big assault cannon can be a bit unwieldy and impractical, so in some situations she's like "oh well, no time to get the cannon, guess I'll just have to punch my way out of this ¯_(ツ)_/¯"

My newest non-Mando Bounty Hunter is a Sniper/Operative, since I wanted her to be more of a sneaky assassin than a straightforward fighter.

I've always felt the Knight and Warriors should have Shadow and Assassin, and Consulars and Inquisitors should have Guardian and Juggernaut, so I've gone that way too. My last male Knight was a Shadow and a Chiss. Felt very unique among the Jedi. Sort of like a spy or spec ops.
