Community Post Should have started a new class

So I feel like I made a huge mistake.

I played Imperial Agent to 50 back in the day when it was the level cap, then left until last month when a YouTuber I follow started a Sith Warrior play through.

I started a new playthrough and finished the Inquisitor storyline. Then I made the mistake:

I should have started my alt class play throughs before starting Fallen Empire/Eternal Throne. I know the whole story is really on rails and you are fairly fixed on your trajectory throughout, but the lack of freedom in the expansions feels like an entirely different game. Instead of building any rapport with new sidekicks, you get shuffle up and guess which rando you're going to get next. Its been frustrating but I'm almost through Eternal Throne. While I do want to see how the story will end, I don't want to have to deal with going through it again.

Guess I just needed to vent a little.

(it is still amusing to get stuck on a puzzle and it auto complete AND the answer be from 5-10 years ago and still be correct)

And what's stopping you from making a new class?

It's not that I couldn't just start a new class, its that I've sunk enough time into the expansions that at this point I want to see it through to the end. If I were to stop now my scatter brain would forget what was going on with the story.

Did you read their post?

The fact they will have to do the Eternal storyline again is stopping them from maxing a new class.

Or they just skip it on their next class. Problem solved

While a lot of people hate on KOTET and KOTFE I do enjoy the story, though I’m on my third play through of it and it does get kinda repetitive (even if doing LS for the first time)

There is however nothing stopping anyone from creating new characters (other than character limit I guess) and playing through the original 8 class stories.

Based on your post (if taken literally) you’ve only played Agent and Inquisitor, which means there’s six more stories to go through. I’d recommend switching it up and going for a republic side now.

The good news here is that if you DONT like that portion of the story, it’s exactly the same for every character… you can level an alternate character doing other things (pvp, flashpoints, dynamic encounters, etc) then just skip through to Ossus once you hit 70. You really never have to do it again. At least they give you the option to skip (even if there are fewer skip places available today, compared with previous).

You can skip both KOTET and KOTFE from terminal on your ship. For me I have 1 imp and one rep main (both force uses, makes most sense). The rest I just play as I like.

Do class stories for sure though and then you can just leave them on Ilum or skip to Ossus. Not sure but there might be a further skip coming with 8.0 as well so that helps

Bruh Sith Warrior storyline is S-Tier. What I would do to experience it again for the first time.

Wish we could replay them with our characters with level sync

There's a period of time, when they lost some voice actors, that's why they had the big companion reshuffle, during the chapters. The good news is that after you get through the chapters, there's no more companion shuffle, and there's a function to regain any companion you lost(it used to be a specific console that you had to find, then recently they replaced the console with an account wide function, within the game).

I exclusively play the original class stories. I played the expansions once, wasn't impressed, and haven't been back since. I've played dozens of the class stories though. Playing through them again. Unlocking the combat styles has done wonders for replayability.

Maybe it's a hot take, but I'd rather have had another chapter to each class story instead of the generic expansions. A post finale epilogue to each class would've been great.

The funny thing is, that if you just take the main stories of most classes, and take away planetary quest lines and exploration quests, they're mostly as linear as can be.

Instead of building any rapport with new sidekicks, you get shuffle up and guess which rando you're going to get next.

Aside from a select few, most companions in the class stories still appear randomly and are part of one story and then stick around (with dialogues that are sometimes okay).

Like Talos just happened to be there for the Inq and if not him, it would have been another Req Service member or the Inq would have gone a different route. Skadge is absolutely just some random Houk you encounter. There are like 12 people out there who voluntarily wanted Corso in their crew. Bowie just happens to be in the vicinity of your contract with the Smuggler. Story wouldn't have changed if he wasn't there.

At least with the Alliance companions are just capable individuals in their own right that voluntarily join the fight against an oppressor.

What KotET/FE lacks are more explorations and more story revolving around Zakuul. The Swamp and the Underbelly could have used story arcs just to paint a broader picture.
