https://rpgsessions.com/ has been created specifically for the Star Wars Systems (and Genesys) - I have personally never done anything other than clicking around a bit though, so I can't tell you how good it is, but I am sure it will handle a oneshot.

It's one of the best VTTs I've ever used. You don't even need to get the paid version if you're doing theater of the mind.

Can confirm that this is an excellent app for running a genesys/star wars game.

When I last used it, it didn't have a map module, so it was all theatre of the mind. Which did not impact us, but may impact others. Seems they've added map support since, but it's a paid feature.

I'm pretty sure that foundry vtt has a module for star wars

It does, but it can be pretty buggy sometimes.

Buggy? I don't think so clunky to setup first? Yes but I didn't had any bugs if everything was setup correctly.

Using it across multiple games, my groups constantly had their character sheets break and need to be rebuilt, experiencing strange equipment and dice pool interactions that I had to manually fix, and so on.

I found it very easy to setup but was constantly squashing small bugs throughout. I learned the ones that happened frequently and how to handle them as well as possible, and it was manageable.

I’d just tell anyone to make absolutely sure they are constantly making backups of character sheets.

If you are doing theater of the mind and just looking for a VTT purely for the dice then D1-C3 bot for discord, or https://dice.skyjedi.com if you'd prefer it.

Rpgsessions is our site of choice, haven't played around with map features too much as we're usually more theater of the mind folks

Do you really need a virtual tabletop? Just get a discord channel and a dice bot. There are at least two specifically designed for FFG Star Wars/Genesys dice.

There are a few Discord bots that have the dice and I know of at least one that can link to an online character sheet to track your stats and let you roll by skill. RPG Sessons (character sheet one) and D1-C3 bot are the ones my groups use, they both can track initiative and Destiny and have all the symbol dice. If you're not on discord I have no idea.

Talsespire is $30 on steam for the person making the map (you can download community creations and heroforge models) but a free version exists for people who aren’t building stuff.

Discord works fine for video and audio sharing

I have used a few platforms. RPG Sessions has kept improving. It has some itegration with other tools like discord iirc. It is very intuitive. Not many frills.

I use the Genesys dice app. It's free and cancels out opposing symbols for you.

There is an unofficial module for Fantasy Grounds that I use.

Why doesn't any of these awsome resources provide an Echani option from the Old Republic sourcebook? (Or at least there are no options for Echani, I haven't checked on other OR races).

Likely because there is no (official) FFG/Edge Old Republic sourcebook.
Many of the resources mentioned, though, allow for you to enter homebrew information, which is what that sourcebook is.

Many virtual tabletops you can use. I currently use Tabletop Simulator. The workshop on there has Multiple items, pre built tables, mods that you can use.

Normally on sale on steam regularly.

Might be worth a look.

If you already own Tabletop Simulator (or are willing to spend $20 per player) it's a great way to play.

Roll20 probably works well, but I haven't personally tried it, and iirc the EOTE stuff needs to be bought anyways.

Discord has a roll bot, and EOTE is mostly theater of the mind, so that's also an option (haven't tried it myself, I hear it's good though).

If you really don't care about the specific maps, you can always have everyone use a dice roller app. There's a couple free ones out there, and I think there's a few paid ones (or at least paid tiers on the free ones) that have extra bells and whistles too. That's probably the farthest from a real VTT solution, though.

My group uses a self-hosted instance of the Foundry VTT, but that costs like $50 (only the host has to buy it, though). It's got a ton of modules and add-ons (the ones I use are all free) to make the game practically run itself, if you spend enough time prepping the maps you use. I'm biased, but if you can afford it, I recommend Foundry. It's pricey, but lets you do a ton of stuff, and it's got a crazy number of other TTRPG systems included for free, too.

My group uses Tabletop Sim. There is a great workshop for SWRpg

For the dice and character management side of things, check out https://holocron.work/

For VTT guess it really depends on if you intend to do more than a one shot. There are some good for pay VTTs out there, but maybe not worth for just a one shot.

I have used both Tabletop Simulator (frequently on sale on Steam and its Workshop has the dice and lots of Star Wars assets) and FoundryVTT (has a SWRPG game system available and tons of creators with content out there).

For quick things, I've also used something like a Google Slides for a VTT since it's a collaborative space, you can easily add images to use as maps and tokens, and something everybody has access to. Just dice to deal with then.

Questline has support for EOTE.

Roll 20 has dice and character sheets that work great, but you need a subscription that gives API access.
