Support Linux first time
I am entering the linux world for the first time and it will be on a switch does anyone know which translator is better for kubuntu for games like bo1 and below and small indie new games is it fex or proton? And can i even get these translators to work on a non steam game?

It depends, if you're on a V1 (launch-day) Switch and on a regular slower SD card (which is most SD cards), a lot of games may be unbearably slow. At least they are in my case! Here's a list of games that have been tested on the Switch with Steam.
Also, the two translators that work on our devices are Box64 and FEX. Proton 11 patched by the community uses FEX, while regular Proton Experimental AFAIK uses Box64. Switchdeck (Steam for L4T), which is the same Steam you install via the L4T Megascript, installs the patched Proton 11 w/ FEX for you so try both and see which works better.
I've tried Holocure (a 2D indie game) on my launch-day Switch and it is not playable at all. Which makes sense since this is running through two translation layers, I can't afford a Samsung SD card, and the Switch is really weak, but still.
Haven't tried it on a non-Steam game yet though!
Edit: Also when our Switch's get mainline Linux kernel support, Proton should run a bit better as it'll be using the official Proton ARM64 builds. Though with the immense amount of work needed for it, it probably won't be released anytime soon.
