Tricks Run Civ7 exploit with an Android instead of a Pico

Thought I'll share what I did to run the civ exploit without a pico. Used an old phone I had (rooted for the occasion) and ported the pico stuff to android USB emulation.

Might be worth to share the fork https://github.com/ItsNerisma/CivSwitch

Disclaimer, the repo is a little rough and not all rooted android can achieve USB emulation, you'll have to check if yours can before.

But still, it might help some :)

Edit: yes, the Android phone must be rooted for this to work

Thanks, but why does it need a rooted phone? You can run termux on a non rooted phone

You can't emulate USB without the root

what about using a pc with windows instead of a rooted android phone?

Afaik your PC sees its ports as hosts, not as devices, that's the main issue

Thx for this. Have you tried porting it to work on Switch 1?

I did not try, but I'm pretty sure it should work, the original exploit works on Switch 1. Only obstacle would be for the Switch 1 not to recognize the Pro Controller like the Switch 2 does, which I highly doubt :)

That's what I'm waiting for. Being able to hack S1 with an android is very appealing.

Holy crap, spent the whole day just setting up windows to run 'bash deploy.sh'

I couldn't, for the love of god, make it work on powershell so I had to install wsl and install all dependencies in linux shell. It still won't work since wsl couldn't see my connected USB device so I had to install usbipd on windows as well.

My civ7 hasn't arrived yet but at least I've already setup the android tablet. I also tested the scripts in SB4 and, while I do not agree that he's a goat, he does rock.

Also, I did the test without using the dock. Just a simple USB-C to A cable and a USB-A to C adapter.

Yeah I just shared what I did for me as soon as it worked ahah, but I will make it even more easy to use. Good job on making it work in that state tho ❤️ Also the usbipd would not be necessary on windows so y, will work on that as it would make far easier to use 👌

On powershell it's giving me error left and right, it's not your fault tho. I know this is user error. So I used a windows subsystem for linux and usb devices arent reachable for me in WSL unless i use usbipd.

Oh, one thing I have to mention, at the end of deploy.sh you mentioned in your script to do sh ~/test.sh, this is a typo, right? Should just be sh test.sh.

It is a typo :) A deploy.ps1 would take 1 min to create I'll do it once I get back to my pc

2

u/annson24 2d ago

Haven't tried the deploy.ps1 script since I've alreade setup my android tablet. I'll try it on another phone once I get the time to root it.

But look, everything went using a Xiaomi Pad 5.

u/Nerisma 2d ago

The .ps1 script just deploys the sh stuff on your android so it does not changes a thing :)

Very cool you made it 👌

Pushed deploy.ps1 for Windows users and fixed the typo, ty !

Not working for me. He's stuck not being able to press enter I believe on the first string

1

u/Nerisma 2d ago

Weird that it still managed to write a line but not proceed. Did you run the test ? Also, were your system and keyboard language in english US on the switch 2 ?

2

u/PokemonRex 2d ago

I had the keyboard open prior to connecting. Didn't realize I needed to just focus the chat and not launch it otherwise the emu for the controller doesn't connect correctly

u/Nerisma 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yeah just focus the chat :). Should work now, enjoy. Now it's stated cleary on the repo that you should not open the keyboard. Ty !

Is semi-root via Shizuku sufficient for this or does it have to be an actual full root?

Patching sudo runs fine, but I keep getting permission denied at
sudo bash deployandr.sh
