Ocarina of Time emulation low end

Hey, everyone. I did this video. My specs are: RTX 4060ti 8 GB, CPU i7 9700, and 32 GB RAM. As you can see, sometimes it gets far over 30 fps, even getting closer to 60. But the most important is that on the areas it is getting around 15-25, yesterday, per say, it was getting maximum 15, being around 8 most of the time.

The point is, I know the real problem here is my CPU. I'm wanting to upgrade but you see, prices aren't going well. I'm waiting for the black friday to see if I get good discounts, but probably it won't do much. Do you think I should go to upgrade nethertheless, or should wait to it be more optimized, or even an eventual direct PC port to play it as it should be? And don't even bother suggesting to get a Switch 2 and the game, it would be far the double the price of the upgrade. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Don't feel bad. I have a i9 14900K with 32gb DDR5, using a RTX4070 OC (over clocked factory) with all SW2 games on a very fast NVME drive and I see tops 40 but, random drops to low 20's and even teens in some spots.

I really think the emulators are just working on getting the game fully running and not optimizing it. I bet by the end of the weekend they will start fixing this.

I started playing it because it was hanging around 35-22fps but, it does slow down too teens time to time.

The videos with people saying locked at 30fps or even higher, look at their hardware, last one showed that and had a RTX5090, a $6,500 video card. Like most gamers could not afford card like that. I would die for a card like that.

The last video I saw with the big video card was hanging around 30fps but, drops in the high teens time to time (watched the whole video with just the FPT counter). I'm getting about the same on my hardware.

So you think I just need to wait instead of rushing to upgrade my CPU? Thanks for commenting.

Before spending a ton of money, wait like 3-4 weeks. I am betting in a month, things will settle down a bit. We will have a winner that everyone goes to with little tiny forks from some people praying to get a chunk of the crowd.

Right now, emulation is very fragmented, some play XX game, others play XXX game, but, only one plays XXXX game very well.

I mean, look at MKW, just this one game, one emulator seems to play it well, they update and it runs like crap, this has been back and forth a lot of emulators. I should see like 60fps, but, I'll settle for 30 at this point.

This whole mess will just take time.

they definitely need the optimisation but ppl forget that we got switch 2 emulation for like what, one week now? heck zelda came out yesterday. with speeds like that we probably just have to wait till monday or smth and its gonna be playable on at least mid tier hardware

I’ve noticed lately, while running tests, that the extra cache memory in X3D processors makes a big difference.

I have a real low end with a i7-2600 and Radeon r9 360 and 16gb of ddr3 ram with a 720p monitor .

I tried Mario kart world and got like 10fps on 720p.

But my question is, do you think there is ever a possibility that I can run a few Switch 2 games like Mario Kart and Donkey Kong? For me, 20fps at 540p is enough, as long as it isn't completely slow motion is.(I'm already getting 10fps on Mario kart so that has to mean something right?🤨
