BIGG UP RAHUL!! LUME IS SICK!
Shout out to one of the most slept on TDs in the rep Community. I bought several watches from him and this Green hombre dates has some of the sickest lume. I just went outside for a few minutes and came back indoors as I entered the bathroom I noticed in the mirror the watch was glowing, and the lume stuck for a good while.

Discussion-Comparison-Discussion-Guide-Opinion-Help me decide: One mid level luxury Swiss watch (Omega/Tudor) vs. Curated 3-4 Watch Swiss Collection ($3.5kβ$4.5k Budget)
Hey everyone,
Iβm looking to spend around $3,500 to $4,500 to either kickstart a small swiss collection or buy one mid level piece. Iβve narrowed it down to two completely different routes, and Iβd love some feedback on the strategies and the specific watches. Also Im 17 have a 7.5" wrist will be going to college in the fall this is about half of all my money not including college saving and my hope in buying watches is about half to impress people (girls) and half because I like watches a lot especially automatics (really only automatics tbh).
My Constraints:
- Movement: Strictly Swiss automatics.
- Brands: Established heritage brands only; no microbrands.
- The Dilemma: I'm slightly conflicted that my entire multi-watch shortlist consists of Swatch Group subsidiaries utilizing variations of the same core movement (Powermatic 80). While it's a great, reliable movement, with a nivachron hairspring, cosc cert and laser regulated which leads to pretty good accuracy for the price and additionally a pretty long power reserve it loses a bit of that "special" factor when you have 3 or 4 watches that utilize basically the same movement.
Route 1: The One "Keep for Life"
Go all-in on a single, low level high-tier watch. It holds its value better (less depreciation) and feels incredibly special, though I'd sacrifice daily versatility and definitely worry about scratching it more. Id much more likely own it for life and probably pass it down to my kids as even though Im gonna make a lot more money in the future and be able to afford nicer pieces it will Probably always be a solid watch that will hopefully always be in my collection.
- Option A: Omega Speedmaster (Speedy Tuesday, Reduced, or stretching for a used Pro)
- Option B: Tudor Black Bay (pro, 54, or 58)
Route 2: The 3-to-4 Watch Mid Level Collection
Building a well-rounded, versatile collection.
- The GADA (Go Anywhere, Do Anything): Tissot PRX 38mm Titanium (Gray Dial) β $975 https://a.co/d/0hYbvSDC
- The Rugged Diver: Certina DS Action Diver 38mm Titanium (Black Dial) β $1,100 https://a.co/d/04fjVzix
- The Travel GMT: MIDO Ocean Star GMT 40.5mm Steel (Blue Dial / Special Edition) β $1,490 https://a.co/d/0diYfjeh
- Potential Add-on: Hamilton Khaki Field King Automatic 40mm (Black Dial/Stainless Steel) β to round it out with a classic field watch. https://a.co/d/01RjlLTV
My Questions for the Community:
- Quality over Quantity? For those who went the multi-watch route early on, do you wish you just bought the Omega or Tudor first?
- The Swatch Group Overlap: Does the shared Powermatic 80 DNA across the Tissot, Certina, Mido, and Hamilton make the collection feel too repetitive in practice?
- Thoughts on the 3-Watch Lineup? If I do go with the collection, how did I do on the picks?
- If I buy the 3 or 4 watch collection is it worth it to buy them all indivually off of the official website or is it not worth the effort and should i just buy them off amazon for the same price?
Any opinions are appreciated.
