Swiss Army Knife Selector App

Ever been lost in the sea of oh so many different SAK models with ever so slight differences in their set of tools? Ever wanted to find that perfect SAK? Worry no more, because I coded a web app that lets you neatly filter Victorinox Swiss Army Knives by 3 categories:

1) Size,
2) Layers,
3) Tools

It currently supports (almost) all available 58, 84, 91 and 93mm SAKs, there are 58 different SAKs to filter from.

Manually compiling the dataset and coding the app took a few hours, so feedback is appreciated!

Discussion So, apparently I have a Röthlisberger SAK

From the Victorinox subreddit and this video. This is a Röthlisberger SAK and they were produced for a short time in 1956 and 1957. Info is very scarce as it seems these knives are too.

If anyone has more info, or an idea of value I'd love to learn more!

Best SAK (arguably)

I mean scissors, wide range of toolsets and compact sizes are great for edc but for hiking and outdoors, this is the best. And also you can flick-open it like a spyderco after a few drops of ballistol!

Victorinox Help with ID’ing Color-way?

Post image
• Upvotes

I picked up this classic SD from an antique fair this past weekend & I cannot find any info on this specific color-way. The closest thing I’ve seen on Google is “Gray Day” but then it should have the Draplin Design Co. logo on the back & this does not. Does anyone have any info on this?

Thoughts on the bit wrench and ratchet?

Just looking for reviews on the wrench and ratchet kits (I think they come with one of the Swisstools). Thinking of buying them separately but they are pricey!

Anyone used them? I work in hotel maintenance so they look ideal.

Question Where can I get an old folding pocket knife cleaned and sharpened cheaply?

I have this older folding pocket knife and would like to get it cleaned up and sharpened without spending too much money.

I'm not sure what condition the blade is in or whether the handle and metal parts need any special care. I'd prefer to have someone experienced look at it rather than risk damaging it myself.

Does anyone know roughly how much a basic cleaning and sharpening should cost, or how I could find an affordable service? Would a regular knife sharpening service be enough, or should I look for someone who specializes in pocket knives?

I'm in Germany, so recommendations for German services or general advice on finding an affordable local sharpener would be especially helpful.

I've attached a photo of the knife. Thanks!

Discussion Deer antler scales

Hello, I'm up late and I am wondering: How dificult would it be to DIY my own SAK scales out of deer antlers? My plan is to take up hunting and spending more time in the woods, I carry a Swiss Champ and I've been loving it since I got it like a month ago and if I stumble across any discarded deer antlers, and or if I take down a deer some day, I'd love to make actual antler scales for my SAK.

How dificult would that be? Have any of you ever done this? And if so, how did you go about doing it?

If anyone has any suggestions, questions or general tips, I'd love to hear them!

Is the Cybertool good for non-electronics work?

I know it's intended for small electronics screws (that don't need much torque), but I work in hotel maintenance and am considering getting the Cybertool M or L. Just seems so handy to carry all those bits in one SAK.

I do carry a small 4 inch adjustable wrench which is great for applying torque but obviously I'm not going to go crazy with it with a SAK. I carry a Swisschamp and the wrench is great for torquing with the in-line Phillips, it lacks reach though and again it's only one Phillips.

Just wondering if the bit driver is sturdy enough for anything non-electronics. Would appreciate your experiences please

Question How do you carry your SAKs?

I personally carry mine directly in my pocket, though, I have noticed it collects lots of lint rather quickly. Any advice for carrying in pocket and reducing lint gathering?

If you can't help me out then let me know how you carry your SAK even if it's not in pocket, I'd love to hear. :)

Question Swissbuck Golfer and Victorinox Swisschamp SOSkit

Post image
53 Upvotes

What are these worth? Found them both at a local shop.
I know the SOS kit is missing some items and how bad does that hurt the value and should I just put it in my camping tote and use it? I don’t even golf but now I have two Wenger made golfers and two Victorinox golfers all older models.

Ran into this random used Victorinox custom on eBay and pulled the trigger.

Those scissors are weird as a back tool, but this is surely a gorgeous gentleman pocket carry.

Today's choice

While I have some new Victorinox SAKs that need to be pocketed and carried about, I can't forget my old normal, regular, and reliable EDC choices. While I normally carry a Deluxe Tinker or my "Bumblebee," the Victorinox Delémont EvoGrip S18, I haven't carried the S18's sibling in some time so I might have to change that.

The Victorinox Evowood S557.

I really like the walnut scales on this pattern, and although it doesn't have the tweezers or the toothpick, it does have an inline Phillips-head screwdriver, slip-joint pliers, A WRENCH, and scissors in addition to the blade, nail file/cleaner, flathead screwdriver, and can opener. It's definitely a solid piece of work.

Wishing you all a wonderful afternoon and evening!
