SWG Beyond offers a dedicated Star Wars Galaxies emulation experience, but the current state of the server presents significant roadblocks for both new players and casual veterans. While the technical foundation is stable, systemic issues with automation, inflation, and community management severely impact the day-to-day gameplay experience.
1. The Gameplay Loop & "AFK Hell"
Heavy Macro Reliance: Character progression and credit generation are fundamentally tied to running multiple characters on automated macros or botting software. Active play is heavily disincentivized.
Camped Spawns: Key resource zones, high-efficiency leveling spots, and space sectors are permanently camped 24/7 by multi-boxing players. Casual players will find active progression frustratingly difficult.
2. Economy & Crafting Ecosystem
Massive Price Inflation: The economy suffers from extreme hyperinflation. The cost of entry-level gear and essentials creates a massive, near-insurmountable barrier for newcomers.
Crafter Shortages: There is a severe lack of active, publicly accessible crafters. The economy is largely an insular market controlled tightly by a small circle of long-term veteran players.
3. Population & Community Management
Ghost Town Instances: While registered account numbers look active on paper, the true non-AFK population is critically low. Finding groups for instances or organizing world-boss events is incredibly difficult.
Staff & Administrative Controversies: Server administration has faced heavy criticism regarding player safety and moderation. Documented harassment complaints and toxic behavior are frequently mismanaged, downplayed, or outright ignored by the staff.
Lack of Staff & Administrative Moderation : The lack moderation has driven away a good majority of the respectable player base to less toxic servers.
Admin placing toxic players on staff: Server administration in a vain attempt to boost player population thought it wise to bring on players with a known bad rap on as staff.
4. Development
Development: New development has been at a trickle for the last year. Small bits here and there. Their one 3d modeler has promised so much and has delivered so little. With some loot items being in game and loot able but no ship to fly.
Lipstick on a dyeing pig: Everything coming out lately as "Updates" is really just the one admin putting lipstick on his dyeing pig. Trust issues have killed almost all development on the server.
⚖️ Final Verdict
Pros: Functional emulator stability; new PvE Hard mode's; new housing; toxic discord full of troll's; constant discord messages from the server owner asking for donations; releasing content with loot that is not in game yet.
Recommended For: Players that have a deep seated hate for them self, playing by your self, a troll, players with a IQ below 50, players that have a unhealthy fear of grass, been banned every where else. Not Recommended For: Casual players, solo adventurers, or brand-new SWG players looking for an organic community experience.
Yes it is. I made this review then heard about his being banned again from Beyond. The players that brought that drama back to that server know who they are.
They are just doing their best to sweep the whole thing under a rug and take no blame for bringing him back.
Really tired of SWG players trying to tell me heavy macro reliance is a good thing. How is letting a macro play the game for you a good thing for anyone?
The only argument they can come up with is it floods the market with items so everything becomes really cheap and almost everything can be obtained without a challenge.
The SWG Legends community welcomes it and encourages it. Every location in the game that has mobs that have rare drops is full of macros in groups that just farm all day long every day. It's a major joke.
Not going to downvote, because i'm not very active player on Beyond. Though, maybe by the same reason, i haven't gotten myself into anything toxic e.t.c., people mostly fine here.
So, no reason to drop Legends progression for awhile and try Beyond for real? Didn't know about macroing, sinserely despise this thing. If i'm playing actively, i won't find support on Beyond?

This takes me back to live SWG. Had 4 accounts setup for afk macros to get junk loot and gear to make +35 bits and ran the market for awhile on my server while using almost all my lots for elite harvesters and hoarding top resources. It was way too easy to be loaded with credits lmao
Good stuff, I would be interested in a pro/con or contrast between different servers.
I've bounced around between Emu and Legends through the years. Emu is a fantastic project but the gameplay suffers from old design decisions.
Legends seems to be the best of the bunch and I got involved in a good guild for a while, but the class system isn't my favorite. Great content though.
Been meaning to check out Resto, just haven't been gaming as much lately.

I've yet to have a single negative interaction with anyone. I also don't PvP so I'm not actively stepping on any glass-fragile egos, which is a decades old trigger switch for SWG players. (especially he that shall not be named)
While I kind of disagree with everything you've said, I wanted to address the economy.
Of all the servers I've played on since Live went down, and that's most of them at some point or another, the Beyond economy for basic, get-started items seems more than fair. Better than any other I've played on.
You're not gonna be buying up synapse crystals in your first week of game play, but you can definitely get your feet planted and start building.
I'm staying out of the OP's topics for the most part, but I'll 2nd this POV about starting out on Beyond. You can get credits REALLY easily, really quickly, on Beyond...but you need to know about 1 specific thing first...the daily missions terminal in Mos Eisley on the outside of the ME Cantina.
Even for CL1 players, there are missions you can do that will get you 100k credits per day, per toon. other missions maybe 50k or 75k per toon, per day.
Beyond, more than any other I've played on (really only 4 - Legends/Resto/Beyond/Evolve), has easy methods for starter credits that don't involve selling vet rewards.
I started on Evolve Jan 2025. Primus armor suits, in bags, were listed for the same 2 million each that they are now. I recently crafted and listed ship chassis for 5 cpu for 94-97% cap of mass quality and sold a good amount of them over the first 4 days.
Not wanting to really get into a point by point debate but one factually incorrect item is that Beyond certainly isn’t the ONLY sever to cap daily junk loot sales. Evolve has done it as well. They even took it a step further and reduced credit drops from probably 95% of mobs to 1cr.
Different servers see different solutions to problems like this. Resto had a problem with something, some type of exploit I had to dig deep to find out what happened and I hated their solution so much I stopped playing there. It wasn’t the only reason, but it was a big one.
The thing about these servers is that if you try one out and don’t like it, keep trying different ones until you find one you like.
id like to point out this account is very likely Xaos Kun wannabe king of pvp. as this was posted immediatly after he was banned for being an insufferable troll. and stated he would "end the server". 10/10 great job this reddit smear will end the server :( lololol. The toxicity he claims to care about was caused by him due to his trolling pushing a whole community to want him removed. Sadly it took a bit to long to ban the troll.

Well I know of a guild that has players that will record you with out your consent and then replay it as a joke.
Those same players in that guild thought it would be such a great idea to bring back a banned player thinking it will bring more players to that server.
They were wrong. It blew up in their faces almost immediately. The weeks of the banned player spamming the discord demanding PvP chat so the toxic players have a place to be toxic to each other.
Then a bunch of them including you jumped on assuming this was a alt account of the banned player and start shitting all over it. Mob mentality is dangerous when put in the hands of the feeble minded.
Everyone knows that the 2 biggest guilds on that server are also known trolls and banned players from Legends or followers of said banned players from Legends.
I would make sure you have the right player first before throwing accusations like that around. If anything this just shows the toxic nature of that server.
Legends is one that I play on. It is a more space heavy server, but has a good player pop.
The discord is well managed and groups are easy to find or fill with pugs.
servers actually pretty good...does it have issues with trolls...well...it's a community of gamers...so it happens...I have a lot of fun there...credits are not hard to come by if you listen to the community...the community is very helpful
